Tardive dyskinesia but no facial tics

my doctor said I have td but i’m not smacking my lips or making grimacing faces. its my legs, arms and trunk shaking. instead of increasing the dose the of the med that is suppose to help he decreased it. i’m going to talk to my therapist about it. I’ve brought it up to her before but she said he knows what he is doing.

I have no idea what I’d do if I got TD. I get small muscle spasms sometimes, and then I worry that it’s TD. But the muscle spasms seem to happen only if I don’t take abilify at the exact same time everyday.

What med are you on?

Vitamin B(6) appears to be effective in reducing symptoms of TD. The specific mechanisms by which vitamin B(6) attenuates symptoms of TD are not clear.

Haldol and latuda, i’m pretty sure its the 30 mgs of Haldol i take daily that is causing it. i’m so worried about my partner’s little sister and her nieces seeing me shake that they will think something is wrong with me.

There is a medication called tetrabenazine that is FDA-approved for Huntington’s chorea (but not TD) that helps quite a few people. As I understand it, it’s usually an uphill battle getting insurance to cover it. However…there is a new medicine in development called valbenazine (brand name will be Ingrezza) that is scheduled to be approved by the FDA in April with the indication being specifically for TD. It will be a first in it’s class drug. Here is a link to some info about Ingrezza:

It’s sill in development, so this is about the most concise info I can find on it.

i doubt my insurance will cover it. it took forever for them to cover my Haldol.
