Taper schedule

Well I’m almost half way through my taper off of Loxapine. I started at 50mg for the past several years as it was the only medication to control my paranoia. Now years later I have pretty advanced TD, Dystonia and slurred speech in the mornings. So I asked my Pdoc how to taper off and on to something else. We introduced Vraylar as I began my taper. 45mg for two weeks, then 40mg for two weeks and so on. Currently I’m on week one of 30mg. So far so good. If we stay on schedule I’ll be fully off on April 17th this year!!

Has the vraylar had any effects? I’m in the process of getting approved and I have high hopes for this med. Nothing but zyprexa has controlled my delusional thinking. Im tired of being crazy lol

@signless I’m still on the lowest dose of Vraylar. I had some side effects from it like nausea. I haven’t noticed an increase of my positive symptoms even with being on 30mg of Loxapine. So I have high hopes that it’s gonna work out

That’s awesome. I read alot of good reviews on vraylar. Some people say it even gave them a little more energy!!!

Anyways I can’t wait to try it and I hope it works for you too :grinning:

Funny you should mention more energy @signless

Since I have started taking it I can’t sleep more than 8 hours a night( I used to sleep 10-12 hours a night) also I can’t take naps, I just am not sleepy anymore. It’s super awesome!

Great to hear @Hanna_Foxx

I am also tapering off an AP down to just 1 AP. I’m stopping Rexulti as my psych has increased zyprexa.

Wishing you the best of luck with this and good vibes.
