Taking Naltrexone for alcohol cravings

I’m doing much better I believe taking naltrexone to dispel alcohol cravings and even if I were to drink I don’t feel anything from it so there’s no use to it. I’m trying to get up early and walk so I can up my metabolism and get healthier. I’m really not in good shape but there’s alot of places I can make progress in. Our new house and new life is great-except for the harassment of my illness. It’s so frustrating to be berated all day and not be able to avoid the person harassing you isn’t it?

Anyhow, I’m trying to see myself being more useful and not just some useless drinker that dwells in a depression pit. But it’s a very extreme form of illness with auditory and tactile and some times visual hallucinations. It can be frightening because I can see my invisible assailants driving around in cars sometimes.

I’m a disabled afghan veteran, and I want to live a better life.

I’m on naltrexone and it’s been great to me. I had two months sober, relapsed back to 4 beers a week. But I couldn’t get intoxicated too. Then I quit again and have 71 days sober. The thought of alcohol makes me sick now. I suggest aa as an add on to naltrexone …it’s not a 100% foolproof treatment but helps a lot. But between aa and naltrexone it’s easy to stay sober. I also notice other improvements in my life since starting naltrexone.

I’m about to start naltrexone for an opiate addiction. Good luck to us all @neveragain and @turningthepage
