Tactile hallucinations? Water?

Okay, I’m going to describe something, and I would really like it if someone would tell me if this is something I should tell my pdoc or not.

I often feel like water is dripping on my arm or running down my legs, but when I check, I’m completely dry. It gets worse if I have to use the bathroom, it’s as if I’m almost hallucinating that I’m, uhm, “going”.
It also gets worse when I’m outside, and especially if those two circumstances are combined.

I can seriously feel torrents of warm water running down my legs, but when I check, I’m dry, and no one else seems to have noticed.

But is it a hallucination or is it normal?
Is tactile hallucinations a thing?
And should I tell the shrink next time I see her?

I don’t know but I’m curious too. I always feel bugs crawling on me and I’ve been assuming that’s a weird hallucination. I think that’s along the same lines. I’m gonna google it.

from wikipedia

Tactile hallucination is the false perception of tactile sensory input that creates a hallucinatory sensation of physical contact with an imaginary object

also it says

Hallucinations of pain and touch are very rare in schizophrenic disorders but 20% of patients with schizophrenia experience some sort of tactile hallucinations along with visual and auditory hallucinations

Sounds like a typical tactile hallucination to me. I get sensations of oil pouring over me and insects biting and stinging me, it’s very real and distressing. I’d certainly discuss it with your psychiatrist, hopefully medication can overcome this.

I had tactile hallucinations when I was psychotic and some of them were painful.

I can feel rain drops on my body below clear sky or indoors. That is tactile hallucinations.

When I was really ill I felt the light spearing my body. It was so painful. I could not be in bright lightbecause of the pain.

Yeah tactile hallucinations are a thing. I guess they can be different for everyone, that’s not one I’ve heard of before. In my case I feel like people are touching me.

The tactile hallucinations have gotten worse recently, along with some negative symptoms.

I’m very much looking forward to talking with my psychiatrist on the 25th, hopefully, we can work out a solution.

Also, the tactile hallucinations are not just about water, it’s sometimes also a burning sensation that gets worse and worse, like someone is touching me with a piece of charcoal.

I will tell the pdoc about this.

It could be neuropathies. Check with a good neurologist and get tested.

Typically, we like to leave inactive threads alone and just start a new thread instead. This is different than how some forums are run, but we do it this way because it frequently upsets users to have old topics revived when they are no longer relevant. It can also be frustrating to the person who revived the thread when they don’t get a reply, because the original poster is no longer active or no longer finds the topic relevant. Feel free to start a new thread on this topic.
