SZA bipolar people. Are you on an AP and mood stablizer?

Ive been stuck in a mixed episode for two months despite the dr in the hospital raising my invega to 9mg. I see my new pdoc on oct 12 and thinking of asking for an additional mood stablizer plus a prn for psychosis. But i might honestly need my invega raised idk

My pdoc took me off my mood stabilizer and I am not on one now. I’m glad, the flat effect sucked. I never really had but a few extremely high highs in my life. I had a pdoc say if I’ve had one manic episode I’m bipolar. WTF?

Thats actually true according to the DSM.

I’m on Trilafon with 350 mg of Lamictal and 10 mg Prozac. The Lamical is a true life saver. I couldn’t function without my mood stabilizer.

Yes I’m on risperidone as my AP and I’m on two different mood stabilizers, Depakote and Lamictal.

If you are experiencing ongoing chronic mood symptoms then you should really be on a mood stabilizer as well.

Best to discuss this with your doctor

How is Lamictal? Right now I’m in hypomania and I’m taking Depakote which keeps my hypomania from becoming mania, but I still have depressive episodes. I’ve heard Lamictal is good for bipolar depression. I’m considering asking about it to ward off future depressive episodes.

Lamictal is keeping my depression in check but I find it to be a bit activating as it acts a bit like an antidepressant.
Overall it’s a good med and very effective against depression.

If you are taking Depakote with Lamictal know there’s an interaction between both of these drugs.

Depakote increases the amount of Lamictal in one’s bloodstream so your doctor will have to adjust your doses accordingly

It doesn’t hurt to ask the pdoc for a mood stabilizer and higher Invega dose.

i haven’t taken them in over a year, but i was given both an AP and mood stabilizer at the first hospital visit, and the pdoc kept prescribing them to me for a while. the flat effect from the mood stabilizer was too much for me, so i stopped taking it, whatever it was. i know my AP was Zyprexia and i also wasn’t too into it. i was also prescribed and recommended to take Trazodone but because of my other meds i was already sleeping enough so not sure what that was about

I have sza/bp-type, was stuck in mixed episode. Not sure what I am now…

Mood stabilizers are as critical to me as blood thinners. I take Tegretol (carbamazapine), plus Seroquel (quetiapine), and am being started on Wellbutrin (bupropion). I also take diazepam.

That really is awful. I don’t know how long I was (or am?) in the mixed for. I don’t have a flat affect from mood stabilizers. I’m quite effervescent and loquacious. Without them, though, I don’t feel like myself at all.

Im going to ask for a mood stablizer for sure. Ive tried countless APs and none stablized my mood
