I feel like I have sza instead. I am certain I was manic on Abilify as I was spending too much and was hypersexual. Off meds too I think as I had grandiose ideas thinking I am Jesus, next president of Germany. I even went to Germany for 6 months as I planned so I can become president and conquer the world.
Whats weird is that on low dose meds like 80mg Latuda or 3mg Risperidone I have no sz symptoms but have some manic symptoms like impulsivity, irritability and agitation, I feel tense and yell while talking. Doesn’t all that sound like mania? Yet my Drs say I have sz. I think they’re too lazy to reevaluate me or to change my diagnosis.
My positive symptoms getting out of control leaves me delusional and terrified. It results in my tension being a 12 on a scale of 1 to 10. My life on meds with my positive symptoms managed well is mostly pleasant and chill the tension is minimal.
Mania is a sz symptom too. There are certain thresholds for being considered bipolar. I was manic a lot over the years but rarely depressed. Bipolar can be diagnosed sometimes without depression present but the name comes from the polar opposites of depression and mania being present
I wanted to have my schizophrenia connected to a mood disorder because I heard it led to a better outcome and in the case of bi-polar disorder was sometimes connected to be a genius. The closest I can come to doing that is connecting it to my periodic depression or the wild mood swings I had with Latuda. I’ll settle for what I’m diagnosed with now because I think the current meds are doing OK.
This was covered recently in another thread. I was diagnosed bipolar on first admission due to behavior. I am on schizophrenia medicine now with no mood stabilizers and have been stable for over 6 years.
Antidepressants can induce mania in some people. This happened to me, when I was a kid. I was misdiagnosed as having bipolar disorder, due to this, I think.
I really don’t want to know what that would do to my pacemaker. I can’t even use a smart scale that reads BMI as it runs a small current through your body for this.
