Sz an auto immune disease?

Is this true, fyi open to peoples feedback on this hypothesis!

I have seriously considered this possibility before. Last year, I got this massive headache one day. During the weeks afterward I lost weight quickly and diabetes got worse. I was cognitively challenged for awhile.

I eventually gained all the weight back, and recovered cognitively(I think) but I dont think my diabetes has ever improved back to former levels.

It seemed like some sort of auto immune thing, but I have given up on trying to figure it out myself. I’m not smart enough.

I will leave the experts to figure these things out.

Possibly. I mean it sounds like it to me. My mom gets sick a lot.

I wonder if it’s a cold thing or virus like the flu, but have no idea or clue.

I even got delusional thinking I was psychic and could make money off a vaccine and get cured.

Like I was getting telepathic downloads from my dreams of people telling me stuff about myself.

I noticed when I get sick (flu) I feel less schizophrenic haha.

They (researchers) are finding evidence of autoimmune components, but there are also other things in the mix (notably genetics).

Think I’m going to bring this up next time I talk to my pdoc!

I don’t think it matters that much if you have it, more in terms of preventing it in the future.

It’s more for the point that I can tell people I have an auto immune disorder/disease instead of sz .
@shutterbug its been constantly on my mind about what people think of it. So this news came as a blessing

People are more likely to judge you based on how you act than the label you hang on yourself. My bosses all know I have SZ and I still get promotions and raises. If you are bug-eyed and talking to yourself 90% of the time then no label you use is going to improve how others perceive you.

It’s a better use of your time to fix yourself instead of fixing your label.

I think it’ll turn out to be that schizophrenia/schizoaffective is an umbrella term for a number of similar conditions with overlapping symptoms and differing causes. Almost certainly one cause being to do with autoimmune,IMHO.

You’re doing great:
I still fear to say to my manager that I take meds, or that I possibly still have this problem called SZ. Actually I am hell no sure if I still have it, because zero symptoms long period of time.
But what I wanted to say… you’re brave and that’s cool. Though in my country, having a serious mental problem is a very big taboo. So I am just hiding it from many people

This is purely anecdotal, might not apply to any of the rest of you. Flu like symptoms as a result of being overly stressed. I am prone to these . Although I have good and not so good days, comparatively speaking, since living near my daughter there’s been almost nothing re those flu like symptoms.

Sometimes extreme hypothyroidism causes psychosis, that was literally why I was in the hospital for.

Severe hypothyroidism= severe psychosis.

It is the responsibility of those of us who are doing well to educate those in a position to make decisions, at least, and push back against stigma.

Yes, if we picture society as an organism wherein individuals fulfill specific duties → bingo, hatred is an auto immune disease.
Imagine cells belonging to different organs suddenly started fighting each other or stopped doing their job out of jealousy. Like, cells in the rectum are only getting sh1t whereas cells in the pancreas enjoy chocolate and ice cream.

Yep… Funny thing you saying envy because when your really think about many of the great harms in the world they came disguised as good(protecting ) wether is ego or purity or whatever… I’m seeing a pattern lol

Jokes aside … moral cancer is real and well documented.

My mother and I, and even Marilyn Monroe were diagnosed with schizophrenia about the same age; 35. I felt it was job-stress related, or just adult stress. If it was an auto immune disease, seems like it would have been earlier.
