Switching meds and weight loss

I was on Invega Sustenna 156mg injections for 7 months but gained 55lbs, so my doctor recently started introducing Haldol 1mg/day and I’m discontinuing the invega. Have anyone made such a switch before? I’m going from second generation to first generation AP for my weight but on a low dose so I won’t develop movement disorders. Has anyone experienced weight loss or anything else switching meds, let me know, I’m anxious to see what happens when the invega is out of my system.

You should lose weight on the Haloperidol, the chance of getting movement disorders is much higher than the invega, but unlikely at 1mg a day.
1mg a day of Haloperidol is very low, 3mg is considered the lowest dose for sz.

I used to take Invega 3mg/day along with 7.5/mg of haldol a day. I stopped the invega because of concern about my weight. I went from 245 pounds, I’m 6ft, to 185 pounds in about 4 months. Now I take 160mg/day of Geodon and 5mg/day of haldol and I have not gained any of the weight back. Haldol did not make me gain weight. And neither did Geodon. Haldol does knock me out though, but at 1mg you should be fine.

I refuse to switch to Invega because of that weight factor that I keep hearing about. Thank you for letting me know.

Don’t do it. I’ve been on every dose of Invega and I can just barely maintain my weight at the lowest dose. It makes me suicidal because weight is a huge issue for me. Even with b-complex vitamins it’s very difficult to even lose weight.

I can’t take Haldol because it makes my neck seize up. But I have had weight loss after switching meds.
I have been on some of the first generation stuff before, but only a few times. Really i don’t remember a lot of details. I think my thought process mostly up until recently has been “Lum de dum another med that doesn’t work.”

I hope your med adjustment works out for you.

I was also suicidal while on invega when I first started gaining massive amounts of weight. I had issues with my body before so it made it a problem. I can relate

Thanks for letting me know what you can. I hope trying meds work out for you as well

No problem. I heard invega was weight neutral for some but for the most part I’ve seen massive weight gains with invega. Good luck!

You let me know this in my last post, and I do hope I have the same experience. I’m happy that you were able to lose weight and keep it off.

Thank you, I hope I do lose weight. And yes the low dose should reduce the chance of movement disorders

You’re welcome. Also thanks.

Good wishes for you and your body and weight of it.

Olanzapine made me gain 23 kg.

I was 50 kg.

I changed to latuda and lost ten kg.

The last year I was around 60 kg down from 73kg .

A few months ago my bf licked sweets in a container with a key so I would not let my sweet tooth eat it all .

I also started having diet bars for lunch.

The last few months I lost five more kg and am now normal body mass index at 55 kg.

I am about 161cm or so.

I also started eating my dinner in a small plate.

I did eat pizza yesterday and do still treat myself to unhealthy food but I am better than I was.

They do not like me exercising in such ways so I stopped Zumba on YouTube and walks but still get at least once a week usually with my neigher.

They ofcourse go to gym and say I may not go not do Zumba but that’s with them stuck up people.

I ride and love that and that is enough exercise for me and I adore her .

Try to knock back on unhealthy food by not having it at home.

Good wishezzz for you on new medication.

I still liked olanzapine ehich to me was calming some how while latuda can affect me…

I get slurred and poor speech at the afternoon or evening.

The jaw clenching has almost entirely stopped since I got meds for it.

My boyfriend said my speech is really good in the mornings and that I talk a lot in the morning (not before he has had his coffee…):stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:but in the evening it is slurry and I miss the little words like a the etc

I also get tired after I take the tablet and if I take it just a couple hours early …

I do feel anxiety and hysteria and intense n panick but I think it is someone else projecting their emotions and being on to me.

I am still happy with latuda.
