It's official... (Help with meds)

I need to talk to my prescriber about switching meds… I have gained 16 pounds in the last 11 days. That is not okay. And prior to that, over the coarse of 5 months I gained 40 pounds… Anyone not have weight gain while on their meds? Or preferably anyone switch from Invega to another med and have weight loss?

Invega is notorious for weight gain. The biggest I’ve ever been was on Invega. I take latuda now it works on the symptoms and the weight gain isn’t nearly as bad.

Weight gain is common on APs. Ask your provider if you can take Geodon.

I lost weight on Geodon. It is a good AP

I gained forty pounds on risperidone. When I switched to Geodon, I lost almost all the weight.

Also, moved to medications.

i gained 20 on invega and and started losing by exercising. then i switched to latuda

Your primary goal shouldn’t be about losing weight, it should be about remaining mentally well.
All of your Antipsychotics cause weight gain.
Some APs like Geodon cause less weight gain than some others.

The downside of Geodon is that it can be bad for the heart. I have to get an EKG every year to make sure I’m still fine. I think it works great. Every drug works differently for every person, though.

I lost 44lb on abilify by seeing a dietician and calorie counting. I had to work at it.

I agree I should be focused on being mentally well… But I don’t think until I’m physically well will I be able to do that. I have too much insecurity and anxiousness about my appearance that I don’t want to be seen.

I haven’t been on a diet, but I’ve been walking on the treadmill. Was just talking to my mom last night that I need to go on a diabetic diet, but then I just weighed myself today and it just blew my mind. And just started calorie counting 4 days ago!

I’m on respirdone and I don’t think iv gained any weight. Maybe a couple pounds. Iv been skinny all my life and barely gained 10 pounds in last 7 years :confused: so for me I’m hoping IL gain weight cause I’m just 123 at 5’ 10"

I gained the most on Saphris and Latuda. I like haldol.

I’m on risperidone and my weight isn’t that bad I don’t think.
