Switched from coffee to tea today

So i was drinking an insane amount of coffee every day for years. And i have problems with social anxiety. I mean its pretty stupid on my part to have so much coffee with anxiety problems. So today i woke up and instead of an uber strong coffee immediately, i brewed a nice cuppa tea. So good! Still has caffeine, but not as hectic. More chill. So thats my plan for a while and see how i go. No sugar or anything. Just a little bit of milk in them. Anyone enjoy thier cuppas on here?

I drink coffee, energy drinks, and caffeine and taurine pills almost every day. Because of the sedation from the antipsychotic, I need to lift my spirits a bit.

Yeah i feel i need to counteract the meds with coffee sometimes as well. But i also cant control my caffeine intake, and i have a heart problem too. I want to rely on less crutches to get through the day, especially if it might be making my anxiety worse. I am on abilify though, so im not as sedated as i would be on some other antipsychotics.

I drink mostly coffee but sometimes I have some herbal tea.

Im not super into herbal tea usually. Just plain ol’ english breakfast mostly. I gotta to tell ya though, i am pretty tired now this arv. They say it can take up to weeks to get your mind and body used to not having coffee again. Probably only if you drink too much every day though before stopping.

Earl Grey is also pretty good. It’s black tea with bergamot. Thinking about it, I think I will have one now.

I can’t drink coffee because it increases my tongue and jaw movements and anxiety so I drink green tea with a little powdered L-theanine stirred in. I also drink chamomile tea at night to help me sleep.

Nice! Yeah ive only heard good things about l-theanine. I think its naturally in ceylon tea. Ive heard some buy supplements of it. Is that what you do? Supposed to be good for being calm among many other things. Its good you’ve taken your health into your own hands there. Im on day 2 of no coffee now. But damn, that first afternoon i became so insanely tired. I was falling asleep sitting up haha. I should get used to it sooner or later though.

I switched from coffee to tea too, first green tea, then to herbal tea. I think I feel a bit better. Didn’t drink much coffee to begin with, only 1 cup.

@Ozzyskits Yeah, the lack of coffee effects should wear off in a week or so.

I get powdered L -Theanine from Amazon. The brand is bulksupplements. You could probably order it from bulksupplements.com

I stir about a half teaspoon into my tea which is way above what is recommended but it has absolutely no side effects and I can’t even taste the dissolved powder in my tea.

This usually knocks me out at night when I can’t sleep.

1 cup is nothing haha. I went through a whole decent sized jar of instant coffee in a few days before i quit yesterday. Like 2 heaped teaspoons of coffee in each cup like around 6 times a day or something haha.

My old case manager would recommend that. Amd also collagen supplement. Yeah i hope i get used to it in a week. So tired! Haha

Yeah that’s a lot haha. Are you feeling any withdrawal symptoms after going to tea?

Just super tired by the arvo. But a silver lining to that is that i slept extremely well last night due to the weariness. Like 12 hours or something. I needed it. I was only getting about 6 hours a night for ages before that. I cant feel other withdrawals. No headaches or irritablitly or anything. Another plus of the tiredness is im more calm. Things feel more immediate and intense on a bunch of coffee. Which isnt happening now. So I’d say the purpose of my quitting coffee has worked out so far. Which was to reduce anxiety.

There’s a subreddit I followed (r/decaf), it’s a community about quitting or reducing caffeine, lots of motivational stuff there. But I guess you have already experienced the motivation with reduced anxiety and improved sleep already. Good luck onwards!

Bergamot reacts with the zyprexa in my case, and I feel really off if I drink it. Bergamot is a kind of citrus fruit.

Edit: just googled it. Its grapefruit and grapefruit juice. Cant have that haha.

Thats good. I dont seem to have much impusle control with things like that. I try to self regulate my moods and energy with coffee, nicotine, water, food etc. I think im always trying to make myself feel okay haha. Im starting to get used to not having a million coffees already i reckon. We shall see.
