I have a Dr apt today and I will ask for Strattera or Wellbutrin. Do they worsen psychosis? Which one was better for you? Any side effects?

Wellbutrin has been wonderful for me. Hasn’t made psychosis worse. Only side-effect for me was a mild boost in motivation and energy, which is boss AFAIAC.

Wellbutrin made my anxiety way worse @Aziz I hope it helps you. I’ve never tried the other one. Good luck at your appointment!!

Strattera worsened psychosis, Wellbutrin had no effect.

Both made me worse. I just stopped straterra last week because it made me start to slip into derealization.
I think if you’ve had a really bad experience with one, you’ll likely have a similar experience with the other.

I liked Wellbutrin it’s a good med. Meds are different with everyone. But yeah I never had an issue with Wellbutrin. Hope your appointment goes well.

I was out on Straterra for ADHD (what we thought it was/before my true diagnosis of Sz).
Quickly came off it do to delayed ejaculation… quite the odd sensation.

Try the welbutrin. Its gonna be more activating than straterra. And you also mentioned you might have depression. So welbutrin is prob better to try again.

I was pretty hopeful for welbutrin, unfortanately it just made me agitated and sensory overload and ringing ears for 10 months lol

I don’t like Wellbutrin I got. A genetic test for what meds won’t work as well and stratterra made me so I couldn’t stop shaking running around the house and couldn’t even hold a fork or spoon such bad tremors but it works for others also Wellbutrin is the only antidepressant that doesn’t give me anxiety or mania or do what strattera did so that’s why I’m still taking Wellbutrin

What genetic test did you get?
There doing tests that are for my cardiomyopathy and mental health issues and all they could find with that particular test is me and my sister have a “unknown genetic mutation” and I absorb certain meds fast I’m waiting on a new test too get more answers I’ve been doing blood tests like the genetic test every year for like 4 years and that’s all the information we got kinda sucks

I decided to try Abilify instead of stimulants as its much safer for psychosis. The bad news is that my gp won’t prescribe psych meds, he told me I need to apply for a pdoc. I need to wait a year to have a pdoc.

Can you find a pdoc taking new patients and then have your doctor fax a referral? That should speed things up.
I got released from my pdoc cuz of inactivity so my doc faxed a new refferal in and she got me back in within 2 weeks

He closed my file. I have to go through an agency to reopen the file then if I pass the interview I can have an apt. I already tried calling my last pdoc clinic, they won’t give me an apt, they said I have to go through the gov agency to reopen my file then I call them back for apt. The interview is on the phone and they ask if my symptoms are serious, if they’re not serious they won’t let me see a pdoc. Here Drs don’t care about quality of life or negative symptoms, they only care if you’re a danger to others. I told my last pdoc I can’t get out of bed and I cry, he said thats normal there many people like me and that I am the one who wants to stay in bed. He said I could work if I wanted to, I just have to force myself.

So your family doctor cant refer you? From what I remember all I said to my family doc to please refer me to “pdocs name” so he just faxed a referral form in. I didnt even know if she was taking new patients or not.

He did but I couldn’t get an apt until approved by that gov agency.
