Tonight a storm with possible tornadoes is hitting our town…I’m not afraid really of the tornadoes hitting us as much as the winds tearing down the dead pine trees in our back yard…probably lose power if that happens as our electrical line to the house goes right between two dead trees…scary.
I wish you the best. Stay safe.
Stay safe keep us updated
We had A bad ice storm here. All the trees iced over and the extra weight brought so many limbs down. Our neighbors tree limb came down and damaged the siding on the side of our house. We called to make a claim and they had a hard time finding our home insurance policy. They say they entered the claim manually and we have to wait and hope it goes through and are taking it from there. I also looked to see if there were any limbs that could come down and take out our power line. There was a smaller limb that was leaning towards our power line and looked like it would hit it if it came down. Everything finally melted of the trees, and now we have a couple of inches of snow.
@anon40326163 man, that’s awful…so sorry this happened to you.
We have a $250 deductible. My dad has mentioned maybe trying to get the neighbor to help out since it was his tree. We had our limb come down on the neighbors’ power line on the other side of us over 20 years ago and it took their power line down. They insisted we pay their deductible. My dad made me go and clean up all the limb from their yard with our chainsaw. I really like this neighbor who’s tree came down (He talks to me and shares some of his life with me and also leaves me be and never bothered me). I dont want to get into a conflict with him in any way and want my dad to not bother him and let our insurance take care of the situation. I bought a indoor Kerosine heater and stocked up on kerosene in case we lose power. It puts out around 23000 btus. I spent around $275 total for the heater and kerosene. My mom wants a backup generator for our house, but they cost around $15000, and my dad does not think it is necessary. Wish you well tonight. Take care.
You live close to where my parents do.
Last time I was in your area visiting my parents I saw a friend of mine too.
He was an elementary school teacher in Moore, OK during that storm/tornado.
I’m sure you remember the devastation.
His stories about it were horrific.
Things I don’t want to type because I honestly don’t want to remember.
Just tragic.
That area is prone to tornadoes,
I think if you are nervous, you should come up with a plan in the event of one.
Stay away from windows. Listen to radio if you can. Don’t worry about tornadoes yet. Bring your pets in. Flashlights. If your sirens go off put walls between you and the outside. Closet in the middle. Sorry for going on. I’m worried for you.
@Charles_Foster because we can’t transport our diabetic dog rooroo in the car in case we need to find a shelter we can’t leave…so we all go in this small walk in closet in the interior of the house…that way the dogs can be safe. I don’t fear being hit by a tornado, lived here all my life and never got hit…been in hundreds of tornado watches…the one F5 that hit Moore was horrible…I couldn’t believe the size of that tornado…they called it a stovepipe tornado…
I hope you’re ok. I hate tornadoes. I’ve survived several. Please give us an update when you can
Be safe my friend
thanks I will if I have power…don’t think anything happened to me if I"m not on for a couple days…it means our power was taken out probably…I don’t THINK I’m going to get hit by a tornado…I’ve lived with tornado warnings my whole life.
edit. it’s not tonight the storm comes, it’s tomorrow night…I got confused when the news hit me.
and to think i live in a trailer house in a trailer park. something tornado’s love.
