Stopping lithium? Best way?

On two tablets a day; should I cut to one then half then 0 or do a cold turkey.

Common sense tells me tapering is best.

Don’t even have a mood disorder so idk why I was put on this stuff.

Thanks in advance.

Risperidone I am stopping cold turkey; I take a paliperidone injection and the metabolite of risperidone is paliperidone so it should be fine.

Got blurred vision from risperidone. Idk why Doctors never listen.

It’s probably a bad idea to play doctor with yourself. If you want to change meds / stop them, it should be done under your doctor’s supervision really. That’s the safest way of doing things.

I consider myself a doctor with a medical background; not fully on paper, but I see your point. I might ask my community team.

I agree with @everhopeful
Do so under doctor supervision is my best advice

It is dangerous to go off a med without medical supervision! Ask your doctor for help with this.

Tapering is best, but you should do it with your doctor. :mouse::mouse::mouse:

Don’t mess with your meds on your own!
Talk and work with your doctor

Definitely consult your dr about any medication concerns. They will be able to help you with any questions you have.

I came off drugs under supervision and did it by replacing with a different drug, like clozapine was replaced with abilify after a couple weeks
Lithium gave me sweats so i stopped it cold turkey
Just speak to mh if you want

i have no clue about lithium but i just wanted to say i havent heard anybody talk about lithium on here in a while oddly enough. i know there are a decent number of bipolar people here and i have diagnosed some elements of bipolar but i never used lithium either. I hope you find a med that works for you if you are going to stop using it. If you do need it though i hope you keep up with it

hello to everybody…as for lithium…

Dealing with stresses has been a lifelong battle for me, but Normotim (Lithium Ascorbate is the main component of Normotim!) has given me a new lease on life. I no longer feel constantly weighed down by sadness and have noticed a significant reduction in anxiety levels. The supplement has helped me cope better with difficult situations, and I now feel more in control of my emotions. My ability to process information has also improved, and I feel sharper and more focused.
