Starting abilify

It doesn’t give me energy and it seems to be better for me to take in the evenings like 5 to 6 pm.

I get some kind of disturbing thoughts of death too when on abilify.I wonder if this is common on this pill.

yea its actually listed as one of the side effects strangely enough. Its part of why i stopped taking abilify. I was happier at first, but over time i felt like it was limiting me. It stops the Reuptake of serotonin (the neurotransmitter recycling process in the brain) causing serotonin levels to increase in the shorterm which may keep a person from suicide or something, but in the long run that recycling process is efficient and so stopping it can limit the maximum serotonin. its a balancer, but also a limiter; keeps you sort of “in the middle”. And serotonin is important in emotional stability. Im going to try to be exercising every day now to see if that helps me.

Yea I remember about reading about it being a ‘balancer’ too.
More so than some of the other aps.
Even my dreams are different and more disturbing did u find that too.

If I take Abilify during the day I get super drowsy & usually end up sleeping alot. If I take it before bed I can’t sleep, even with it in combination with high-dose Seroquel & some benzo. Taking it in the morning usually levels out after about a month for me, less drowsiness but very low levels of energy that stays that way as long as I keep taking it. My pdoc usually says that it’s works best to take it at daytime due to activation & the best time being shortly after waking up, yet some people have a better effect taking it just before bed. Most people get more energy from it though, so I hope that it works for you as you want it to!

Yes it does make me sleepy but I think clozapine is the main one doing that…

When I was on risperidone and clozapine I asked my doc if I could stop clozapine 1 or 2 days before the exams so that I wouldn’t sleep so much…He agreed, so that’s why I think clozapine is the one that makes you more sleepy, but abilify could do that too, I don’t understand how the meds work.

I take them both before bed so I don’t feel so sleepy during the day, although sometimes is hard to wake up…
