Started a new job

I got a new job recently. The role is a car detailer/driver. Had my trial shift the other day. Ended up working ten hours that day. Pretty tough on me mentally, especially since I haven’t done any kind of work for the past 2 years. Hope I can keep this one and not flip out and walk away like numerous other jobs I’ve had in the past. Anyway thanks for listening. I know people on this forum understand the extreme difficulty of holding down a job can be for a lot of people with diagnoses like ours.

First, congrats on the new job. I hope you do well and they’re sensitive to your limitations. I know what you mean about trying not to walk off or run away, I’ve done that too. Just hand in my stuff, say this isn’t for me, and run for the hills. It’s tough to suppress that. Just take it as it comes, and if it’s not something you’re comfortable with, there’s no shame in that. This illness is hard enough.

Good job man! I’ve just made through my 5th week of working at a locksmith shop. Been tough mentally but making it through.

Cheers

When I was younger I did a lot of car detailing. Worked for a mob who did new car things and we’d do show room detailing for the motor shows. It was hard work but it wasn’t mentally taxing which was good for me as my mind did wander.

Good luck with it and hope you do well. It’s not bad once you get into it.

Hopefully, mentally, you stay strong; to keep the job.

Congratulations! That is super duper exciting. To have that sort of responsibility. Wish you well with it
