Splurging this Christmas on ourselves

Angie is going on a shopping spree with her half of the Christmas money and I am getting finally a c.f. martin “backpacker” guitar !! It’s a six string with a funny look but great Martin sound…had one before I got sick…my stuff got put in a shed and a junkie son of my ex room mate went through my stuff and the guitar was one of the things that got took…sorely miss that thing…so I’m getting another one…my 12 string is great once in a while but I crave a six string…so Merry Christmas to us !!

Good for you!

It’s funny, there was a thread a couple of weeks ago about what we are buying ourselves for Christmas. At that time, the only thing I bought was an external hard drive.

Fast forward two or three weeks later - we’ve spent about $1400 between us, most of it frivolous. Two model train locomotives for him, four railway photography books (did I mention I’m married to a total train geek)?

I bought new jeans in four different sizes so I have things to wear along the way as I lose weight. Six tees in my goal size. About 7 Kindle books. Three sweatshirts in my goal size (did I mention I’m building a hope chest? I gave away all my size 8 clothing in 2022 after I gained weight again. That was a big mistake, now I have to rebuy everything). A regular book about trauma recovery. A charm holder pendant. A personalized necklace. Chris bought me an engraved cuff bracelet.

Yeah…when we got the pleasant surprise that our medical bills would be $3200 less than expected…and I got tired of living so carefully while Chris is only collecting 60% salary on short term disability the last six weeks…I just rebelled and went wild out of our savings account.

I am not even manic. Just crazy and cutting loose from the bonds of money. Yikes. Now I’m sober, but all the parcels have already shipped. lol

Enjoy your guitar!

Splurged on my son. He has a drone. An electric police motorbike. Some monster trucks. A dinosaur. Some Disney cars stuff like a remote control car. My newborn didn’t get slot cos he is only 7 weeks.

Like a flying drone? Isn’t he still a toddler?

Yes he is still a toddler but he has played with one before with supervision and really enjoyed it. It’s only a £35 one for kids. Nothing majorly expensive….i will add he is quite mature/advanced for his age.
