Today is my 5th day in the medical hospital. I feel lonely and can’t sleep. I have a colonoscopy at 6am and no one will be there with me. Sometimes it’s really hard to be strong all the time. The bowel prep was disgusting. They put crystal light in the liquid to help mask the taste. Now I really hate the taste of lemonade.

can your family come to visit you? I guess they have work and such but I hope they can find more time. You must be in a lot of pain

IDK, have you had a colonoscopy before? Maybe the procedure is a bit more complicated for you because of your other health problems but I had two done and both went smoothly. Yeah, the prep is no fun but for me, the rest was simple and painless. My case worker dropped me of at the hospital, I checked in at the front desk, waited in a little room by myself for about 30 minutes, then they wheeled me into the room for the procedure, gave me anesthesia and pulled open my robe and I didn’t remember anything after that. I woke up in the same room I waited in the beginning. I wasn’t in any pain and I got dressed and my car worker came and picked me and drove me home. It was a totally painless procedure, it wasn’t even uncomfortable.
In fact when I woke up one of the nurses who was in the operating room came up to me and asked me if I wanted to go out for drinks later. I said, “I barely know you”. She replied, “That’s OK, after that, we don’t have any secrets from each other.” Anyways, I digress.
Yeah, have you had one before? Because there’s nothing to be scared about and normally you only have to get a colonoscopy once every ten years. Good luck, I hope it goes as easy for you as it went for me.

My dad is a colon cancer survivor. The chemo got rid of it after they cut out the cancerous section. I have had three colonoscopy’s so far. I hope all goes well.

Thank you for your reassurance. I’ve had two before so I know what to expect. What’s stressing me out are the circumstances as to why I’m getting one. I just wish a loved one could be with me. I’m anxious. The staff here is super nice though. I’ve only been on clear liquids or nothing since day one so I kinda wish I could eat something unhealthy like a bbq chicken pizza.

Hospitals are a damn pain. In situations like these, I always find that more positive thoughts help—they don’t weigh me down. I mean, giving myself as much support as possible.

it’s really difficult to be in the hospital without a family member for emotional support. Keep posting on the forum if you are feeling lonely and anxious in the hospital. I hope everything goes well. Take care.

My boyfriend had his eye removed in hospital all by himself.
How terrifying.
He had no one to pick him up even and had to take a taxi home.
Some beautiful amazing people that are all alone and some fake horrible people who have endless friends and people.

Thanks everyone. After they put me under they decided my colon wasn’t clean enough to look at. So they are making me drink more prep stuff and do another colonoscopy tomorrow morning. Good times.
