Soooo tired of poverty

I’m just tired of never having money…it is here and then it’s gone…we have food money but that’s it…no more anything else until pay day…oh well…guess I’ll have another spoon of peanut butter.

You’re not alone this month, we are behind on 3 different bills because of our simple wedding. We don’t even have enough money for food or fuel. Times are expensive at the moment and things don’t seem to be getting better just yet, but we hope they will really soon.

I would ask for an advance on the inheritance since you’ve mentioned before that your parents are rich.

That’s what I would do.

oh that…haha mom prefers to say that all the money is tied up in investments atm. she still works a job that she claims she supports herself with and then rennovates her home for hundreds of thousands…doesn’t make sense…oh well…I keep my mouth shut…she helps every month and that is sufficient for my patience atm…good idea in plan though.

Man, it sounds like you are looking forward to her passing and getting the inheritance. Really creepy.

I’d rather have my folks alive then any inheritance couldn’t you earn a bit of extra cash or ask for a loan?

It’s very hard to get a loan in the us. Lots of predatory lenders

Credit cards is also an horrible but desperate option to get through this for me while figuring out how to pay off this debt in the future.

You always make these threads but you NEVER take anyone’s advice on how to make extra money.

What do you want us to do for you?

There’s hundreds, probably thousands, of easy jobs out there you can probably do.

Go work at the goddamn Dollar Store for crying out loud. It’s super easy, just ring up people’s good and not many other responsibilities.

PLUS, poverty is living under a bridge, addicted to substances, not knowing where your next meal is coming from.

Tell me about it. It sucks being poor. But at least I have a roof over my head and have money to buy food. For that I’m thankful.

I meant ask his mum for a loan.

Well, that’s not entirely true. Food court garbage cans and restaurant dumpsters were always good for finding a snack when I was homeless. That is if I could beat other homeless to them.

She is a smart investor. She manages her money well. It’s not really her fault that you can’t do that for whatever reason. I mean I’m not knocking you for having little money but waiting for your mom to die get your inheritance is messed up.

There are many housing improvement grants and low-interest loans that are subsidized. There are also tax benefits to doing projects that increase the long term life of a house. If she is still working at her age, I would guess she isn’t as wealthy as you are hoping. It sounds like she is just financially stable.

We had to deal with this with some relatives recently. They see our house, and see our lifestyle, and then they compare it to their own and assume we must be wealthy. When we say we can’t afford to help them financially, they assume we are lying because we just don’t want to.

This came to a head this year, because we have been saving up for about a decade to take Mr. Star’s mom on a once-in-a-lifetime vacation of her dreams. People saw the photos and knew it was an expensive trip. They did not see the ten years of budgeting and saving so we could make it happen. They thought about how they could have used the money, and it was true that, in that moment, their needs would have been a higher priority for us than a vacation. But we had already put down a deposit, so giving money to the relative would have meant also giving a large chunk of money to a resort for no benefit. And it would have taken another ten years to save up the money. By then his mom would likely be unable to go on the trip.

I understand. no, my mom is very wealthy, she just prefers not to retire. also she doesn’t like to use her inheritance to live on. so that’s why. @shutterbug no, it may seem that way, but I love my mom very much and don’t want her to die…I hope in a decade and a half or so when she is late nineties to receive the inheritance…

What if she doesnt give you the inheritance or as much as your hoping?
Cant mope around waiting for something like that.

Ill agree with @Montezuma go try working at dollarstore part time for some extra cash. But the challenge for you will be to actually spend it on food.

And no more stray cats!

I think my wife is getting a pretty good inheritance from her aunt and uncle as they had no kids. We were cleaning out their home last year when they went into care and we found envelopes of cash everywhere and at least three bank accounts they had forgotten about. How do you forget an account with $800,000 in it? LOL. Not that it will do me any good, I’ll likely be dead. Heh.
