Solution for intrusive thoughts 💭

What is the solution? I have intense negative thinking. It is a cognitive problem. A dysfunction. What has worked for you in stopping it?

My OCD/intrusive thoughts was all but cured by CBT.

It took years and lots of hard work,

But now I rarely have those type symptoms.

Can you go into further detail as to how and why the CBT worked?

I would like to try CBT. Have OCD intrusive thoughts.

If you practice CBT it changes the way you think.

It took years of focusing on certain techniques,

But now I don’t really get the intrusive thoughts anymore.

A therapist or books on the subject can give you some exercises to try,

Its up to the individual to really make it work.

CBT was difficult, but fully worth the effort.

Use affirmations.
For example say out loud " I have a clear head", or other affirmations that you have to make up according to the content of your intrusive thoughts. Say it several times.
If the thoughts persist, you have to persist in saying it.
Eventually the thoughts will go away.

Did you have a psychologist performing the CBT? I was suppose to have a psychologist do CBT with me but it fell through. It’s hard to get CBT where I’m from

Or just a regular therapist that’s familiar with the method.

Also, you could try getting a book and trying it yourself.

I did both.

It is overwhelming. Wish a pill would clear it out :sob:
