Honestly that’s not a bad idea!
I’ve been told several times by ssa that I’m not capable of substantial gainful employment based on my history and work record.
But that hasn’t stopped them from continuing to review me over and over.
I think it’s a load of crap.
Do they just want people on ssdi to have no money and be miserable 24/7?
Anyway @anon4362788 @TheVoices best wishes for your hearings, you shouldn’t have to do this in the first place. Sounds more like mental abuse on the part of ssa to me.

You might have the right to ask the court to provide you with a lawyer. This doesn’t work out usually with criminal cases, but it might in a social security case.

Thank you, I would hope there are pro bono lawyers for people on disability. Or even one that would workout a payment plan, rather than everything all up front plus a retainer fee.
I am praying that I wont have to go to court.
But who knows, it could happen.
I have no control either way, so I can’t justify spending energy on worry.
However, I could be singing a different tune if I get a letter saying I have to go to court.
They have public legal services that would probably do this kind of work. If they don’t have one in your town they probably have one in a nearby city. Check the phone book.

LS! I feel for you. Ten years ago I had to undergo scrutiny for my disability payments and recently for getting all sorts of help. I always give some information about schizophrenia: in an editorial of Nature 1988 schizophrenia was called the worst disease afflicting mankind, a fact mentioned in the preface of Schizophrenia second edition and Schizophrenia third edition. The man at the UWV (disability payments Netherlands) laughed right in my face and said that other diseases are far worse. Total uninformed nonsense. So it appears people know next to nothing about schizophrenia.

Good luck with everything. My mom handled my disability application and case, I was to mentally unwell to carry through with it on my own. I lost benefits when I ended up in jail for 5 months but got them reinstated with a visit to the office and a three month wait. I don’t remember ever having to go to a hearing.
