like after i got denied the first time, my hearing date took me a year and a half to get. so long

I didn’t have a hearing, I live in VA. It was just paperwork and phone calls…
I’d say do whatever your lawyer tells you to do I guess… that’s what I’d do. I really hope it goes well.

I know what you mean about being nervous about court. I’m going to have to go to small claims court to get my car crash paid for and event though I wasn’t at fault, I know there insurance company will want to give it a fight.

I had a lawyer too. Mine didn’t take any time at all. But the lawyer filed for me from the very start. I don’t even have a clue what I’m disabled with. I assume it’s sz. The lawyer came to see me while I was in the psych ward at the hospital. He asked me if I wanted him to file for disability benefits. I said sure if he thought I could get them. I just signed his paperwork, and didn’t hear much from him, until Social Security wanted to talk to me on the phone. I just agreed with everything they said, even though I didn’t have a clue what it was about. Then a month went by and I had my money. I didn’t know the amount because the money went to my psychiatric care provider, not me. I was just agreeing to everything and signing forms my case manager gave me. He was doing all the work. Once I got my money, my case manager rented the apartment I am living in for me. I was homeless and living in transitional housing - temporary housing.

I remember asking my case manager did he know my lawyer and were they friends. I don’t know how the lawyer knew where I was after I got out of the psych ward. The hospital discharged me to my psychiatric care provider. My case manager with them dealt with all my affairs. I didn’t have to do anything myself.
