So you think your Karate is better than mine?!

Ha ha! Just being silly  .

I’m thinking about taking up Karate again though. I found a recreation center that’s not very far from me that offers traditional Japanese Karate for really dirt cheap prices.

The only problem is transportation. I could probably get a ride there at least once a week and work on katas from a manual or book.

Wish me well on my decision!

You can do it! Sounds fun!

I used to do Muay Thai, which is a martial art with few rules. It was fun! I don’t think I could do it, currently, as I’m pretty weak. Maybe someday.

Oh yeah, to have all that energy again as a kid haha!

I’m just worried about my negative symptoms and the fact that I’m not in that good of shape.

Akimas! (a nice spirited break!)

How old are you??

Muay Thai is badass! I’ve seen actual VHS tapes of fights from Thailand and they were brutal.

I’ve been sharpening my skills in the dojo for years! :ninja:

Just kidding, I’ve never done karate but it seems like an excellent way to exercise and stay active. Good luck, buddy!

I’m 41, which does concern me a little.

I think in the beginning it might be tough, especially if you haven’t exercised in a while. I hope you’re not a smoker (I am and it sux).

I used to be extremely proficient with Shaolin Ryu Kung Fu in my teens. Shifu was aware of the limitations of my heart condition and customized my training for shorter engagements.

Yeah, I only vape, no ciggies.

If my mom okays the Karate I’ll probably start doing some calisthenics and a little cardio on my stationary bike.

Sounds like a good plan!

Yes, you need to get in shape first.
I don’t think your sensei is gonna cut you any slack just because you’re older.

That’s awesome. Bruce Lee said the Chinese arts give one a fuller picture when practiced. If I’m not mistaken all Karate owes it’s lineage to Kung Fu.

I took up some Kung Fu in my teens.
Good luck with the Karate @Montezuma!

I don’t know it that deeply. My uncle had been going for his own health and started taking me after I received a particularly bad beat down when I was 13. Broken nose and fractured skull from four or five kids going after me (it’s a bit hazy thanks to the head bonky).
