So tired of the "Karen is a *****" meme

I’m so tired of it :sob: :sob: :sob: I think I’m nice most of the time

Yeah I agree it has been overcooked as a meme. Seems kinda nasty and dismissive the amount it gets used now

@anon94176359. It use to not bug me (my real name is Karen) but now… It really just hurts my feelings

Yeah and people totally write people off with the phrase, ‘oh they are such a Karen’. It assumes too much

@anon94176359. I hate my name now…

Nah it’s a good name. You will be you long after this meme is forgotten. Just think of all the other online fads that have came and been

Think of the people who use that meme as a bunch of immature geeks. You’re better than they are.

Meh. It’s not about the name, it’s about the stereotype of that middle aged white woman that always asks for the manager. Just don’t be that person.

@LED. I feel it’s more than that… Never mind

As a former customer service worker,I definitely understand the frustration that went into creating the Karen meme. But I think it doesn’t work. The people who hear the meme amd actively try to avoid being that way are people who weren’t that way to begin with. The people with the problem don’t think the meme is about them. So the rude, entitled, racist customers stay, but in turn you have dozens of polite people with anxiety who have a legitimate complaint (getting overcharged, getting the wrong order, etc) but they are terrified to ask for help outof fear of being seen as a Karen.

I don’t understand this thread?
Who’s Karen?

I’m sorry, I’m not being sarcastic.
Just ignorant.

I feel ya (not from experience, but I can imagine). I’m so sorry!

At my most recent hospitalization, a new patient named Karen came in and I told her “man, your name is really going through the mud right now” just to break the ice. Perhaps it wasn’t the best thing to say, but I was trying to say I wasn’t making assumptions about who she was. She had NO IDEA what I was talking about! Hadn’t heard of it at all! Maybe some blissful ignorance…

I dont attach any negativity toward people called karen, i saw a lady called Karen on the dating sitem she looked good and nothing like the negative portrayal from the ‘youth’ I felt bad for her the way her name had be stereotyped,

Kids can be cruel, i think they have an alternate name for aguy but not sure, it is cruel, we are all flawed, every one of us, Not one person should be picked out :frowning: those people that use that term really should be ashamed of themselves.

Never mind I looked it up.

I have a wonderful cousin whose name is Karen!
And I agree…really sick of the memes. Hopefully they end soon. Eventually they will. Don’t hate your name. It is a great name!
