I smoked my last cigarette the evening of August 31, went cold turkey, so yeah, it’s been a month. I got past the withdrawals weeks ago, but I still often find myself wanting a cigarette.
I just have to remind myself of how much money I’m saving, besides the health benefits. I figure I was smoking at least $10 worth of cigarettes per day, considering Marlboros are over $8/pack where I live, so I’ve saved at least $300 so far. That’s a lot of money for me.
Good job. My dad quit smoking this year after about fifty years. He fell out of a tree and punctured his lung. The doctor said that he survived because he had quit smoking. It saved his life.
Congratulations. When I quit 13 years ago it was only after 4 months that I truly felt the stronghold of cigarettes on my mind and lungs gave way. I never looked back. I’ve got so much freedom as a nonesmoker now.
You’ve already done the hard work. Just ride out the wave and you’re good.
Congrats! I know how hard it is to quit but it’s not as hard as the cancer or death that comes from it. I quit 14 months ago and I believe that was one of the best decisions I ever made.
