So another news story about a violent schizophrenic

How do you guys deal with it if e.g. it’s on the news and you know people you know will have seen it?

Isn’t it all a bit awkward?

No.

I feel about the same as I would if a straight white lady committed a crime.

There are like 45 seasons of “Snapped” so that ■■■■ happens A LOT.

I think it’s sad when I read stories about other people with schizophrenia doing violent acts,

But they’re humans.

Above anything.

Having schizophrenia also doesn’t make you similar to them or anything like that.

Just the same as all the white bread ladies on “Snapped” and I.

On this forum you can see how wide and broad cases are.

You shouldn’t be so quick to put yourself down with other people’s actions.

Sharing an illness doesn’t make you like them.

I never relate to sz committed crimes… they’re pretty rare in my experience

I don’t tell people I have sz, because I know people think we are violent / dangerous

usually a schizophrenic is more a danger to themselves than committing murder.

It’s a bit awkward when they say they heard I was on the news again

The caption " schizophrenic attack " just came up on the regional BBC news. Someone with schizophrenia had stabbed his mum death in Plymouth.

I don’t feel great about it to be honest because I know what people can be like.

Nah. I just ask neurotypicals how they feel about crimes committed by people in their group, which are more numerous whenever it comes up. I ask how they feel about being such a danger to others. Shuts them up.

Edit: Don’t let others step on you for having SZ, ever. Punch back twice as hard.
