Feeling nervous. I have my SMI evaluation over zoom on Friday at 12:30. I feel sick with nerves. I’m told it’ll be 90minutes to 2 hours long. They will be evaluating me to see if I qualify for mental health services as provided by the state. This could really make a huge difference for me having my meds paid for and my therapy, case management and psychiatrist all paid for by the state. Right now I’m drowning in those bills. Have any of you ever been evaluated for a state funded program like this for mental health?

In my state, you don’t need to be evaluated, you just automatically qualify if you’re under a certain income threshold. I was in that program for a few years, until Mr. Star and I got married.
In my state it’s based on income. However, the county I live in has a county mental health program that you need to qualify for to get in. I qualify and I’m in it. But they said I need a new assessment so I’m getting that done soon.
So my state has income based Medicaid but the SMI services is apart from that. I make too much income to qualify for Medicaid or state funded insurance but the SMI assistance doesn’t have a income cap.
