Sleep Paralysis

I just woke up from a sleep paralysis. I get it often. I thought it was from one of my meds, but when i got off that particular med, i still have been getting it… Do you get sleep paralysis? If so, please share your experience.

I never got sleep paralysis, but it must be pretty bad. I think I’ve heard people say they hallucinated demons next to them and they wanted to scream/move, but their body was paralyzed

Last time I had sleep paralysis I was not scared by it, and I have not had it since. I never really get scared by nightmares either, I think that is why I must not have them so much. That must be terrifying getting it frequently though.

It only lasts about 30 seconds when it does happen. I’ve gotten use to it, however it’s still terrifying.

Yes, I normally wake up in my bed and start vibrating, then slowly start hovering into different places of the room fully conscious. Last time though I think I just knew what was happening because I have had it before and just did not really care. Scary. lol.

I woke up on the couch in the living room once and couldn’t move. There were three tall dark beings at my feet. For whatever reason I wasn’t scared. They seemed to be just observing me.

Yes. Personally I find it relaxing, so much so that I’ve learnt to induce it practically at will. The technique is straightforward enough, and being able to do it while you’re completely awake helps you get a handle on it.

Are you talking about lucid dreaming? I don’t think anyone has found sleep paralysis relaxing before.

I’ve never had sleep paralysis, but I have had morning hallucinations.

It’s not so bad when you feel in control.

No I mean it is a state of fear with an adrenaline rush, otherwise it is just lucid dreaming.

Yes for ten years I’ve had it about 70% of the time. Had it last night. I get tactile hallucinations where when I can’t move I get needles stuck in me and my hands are tied down. I hate it

That has to be painful… My heart goes out to you. I get the tactile hallucination with my sleep paralysis also.

Thanks, none of them are ever pleasant. Even the none tactile, I’ll hear voices so loud its like my eardrums are going to be blown off. It’s so scary! I am aware of what I am thinking, and reasoning, yet I cannot move, and sometimes my mouth is covered by tape. Ever since I sleep in the same bed with my boyfriend I yell out “help me” and he says he never hears it. It’s best to sleep in complete darkness though when you have sleep paralysis, less likely to morph things in your mind, and able to cope with it better

I have it sometimes.
It’s really frustrating. I’ll try to scream out for help because I hallucinate someone I know is nearby, but I can’t make a sound. When I finally can, I usually wake up fully.

Apparently sleeping on your back greatly increases the chances of getting it, I have only ever had it whilst sleeping on my back.

Is that where you feel you can’t wake up even though you are awake…

yes… It’s when you wake up and you’re fully aware, but can’t move.

Yeah i hallucinate sounds when i get it. Loud banging sounds like someones coming down the stairs to kill me. I fight it pretty hard, but rarely can i break out of it. Not a fan. I get it more when off meds.

I find it terrifying. Cutting out naps and waking up with my alarm every day seems to help.
