Sleep assistance?

I can’t sleep lately and I’ve been relying too heavily on the benzo lately in my opinion (3-4 times weekly). I can’t believe 30 mg of olanzapine doesn’t knock me out.

I don’t want to take another medication. I’m so mad. I have taken lunesta and trazodone in the past.

I’ve been tryna fix the same issue myself too. In the end, i’ve given up. It’s apparently true that a majority of sz patients have issues with sleep-wake cycle.

I just listen to my body and try to get as much done during my wake periods. Sorry I can’t help more.

I’ve tried trazodone, mirtazapine, promethazine, zinc supplements and ashwaganda supplements - all with the same result - chaotic or untimely sleep patterns.

I have difficulty sleeping also. But when I was on either invega or zyprexa I had to take an anticholinergic like cogentin aka benztropine to sleep. Yesterday I got back on cogentin and I’ve been way more chilled. It helps with the akathisia and restlessness. It’s prescribed to people who have Parkinson’s disease and also to people who take antipsychotics.

Baclofen which is a muscle relaxant seems to help me the most. Most of my sleep anxiety seems to come from chronic back pain and my back muscles tense up if I am upset.

I also want to try using a heating pad before bed to see if that would help.

I go through spurts, sometimes I sleep great and others I’m lucky to get 3 hours. Maybe try to go to bed only when your tired and try to wake up at the same time every morning. Reset you circadian rhythm.

I had insomnia on olanzapine. 6mg Risperidone fixed my sleep issues.

Clozapine is my AP and I sleep beautifully on it. The only other AP that helped me sleep was high dose seroquel.
