I’m really tempted but don’t want to do anything rash. I have a appointee, a appointee is somebody who looks after my money as a psychologist did an assessment on me and said I lack capacity with managing my finances, so this appointee is court appointed. I asked my appointee to buy me a Omega and he said he has a duty to managing my money and it isn’t in my interest.
My credit score has been improving and on the credit score website it says I’m pre-approved for a loan up too £2.500 at 20% apr, so in 24 months I will pay back £3.000. This is at £125 a month.
I get £550 a month personal allowance my appointee pays into my account. £125 every Thursday…
My outgoing out that are
£47 a month for my mobile phone contact
£13 a month for my bank account fees as I have a upgraded account.
£160 a month for food and coffees out
that leaves me £330.00 a month spare.
I do have hypomanic episodes which I always spend all my money on this obsessive hobby but these are only twice a year.
My appointee wouldn’t approve of me getting the watch.
Do you think its a good idea or should I talk to appointee even though I know he’s going to say no. Should I get it anyway?
£2500 for a watch? What’s the point of pretending you have wealth if you don’t? If you attract a partner with that watch they’ll find out about your actual situation eventually.
You should absolutely NOT get this watch. It is outside of your means and the loan would be costly. Think about it, this is why you have someone else managing your finances, and I’m not saying this to insult you, I’m saying this because I dont want you to make this costly mistake.
A watch is made to tell time and a 2500 dollar watch will not tell it any better than a 100 dollar watch.
@bobbilly. If you’re seriously considering spending that kind of money or taking out a loan, I think you need to let your pdoc know that you’re having trouble controlling impulsive purchases. This is very concerning.
Unless this watch can shield you from kryptonite and makes you more powerful than a locomotive then I would pass. No doubt it sounds very intriguing but it sounds like something that can be easily stolen or damaged. And human nature will only spur you to want something bigger and better afterwards. But it is your life and finances. Just remember you reap as you sow.
For a Watch? Nah mate - Bad move. You’ve already said your bad with money. I can understand if it was essentials, like roof repairs or a boiler. But a watch - i would pass.
Sods law would say you would lose it/break it in a couple of months.
I have an Omega. I didn’t pay that much for it though but it’s worth that. I hardly ever wear it. I got it through a deal overseas in the military. It was about $750. It’s engraved and personalized on the back of it.
What’s your reasoning for wanting to own an expensive watch? You could buy a nice Timex for $50.00.
I’m not necessarily opposed to the idea of buying a luxury occasionally.
I bought myself a nice car vacuum but it’s also functional. I have a nice comforter for my bed. I bought a stylish car trash container but it was reasonably priced. So it’s nice to treat yourself occasionally but going into debt just for show maybe ain’t the best idea.
If you are buying that watch just to look good out in public it seems like a new pair of pants and a couple of new shirts and a new pair of shoes would make you look better and be more reasonable.
