Im at the hospital for my midwife appointment. They know im here. So far they are 30 mins late. Im thinking of walking out.
id wait for the sake of your baby
Thanks. I did end up waiting.
Think of your baby, these appointments are important…
I realise that. I just dont appreciate my time being wasted. Its just a pet peeve of mine.
You’re a mom now, people are going at make you wait at times and you’re just going to have to deal with it, including if in later years if something is going on that’ll be fun and your kid wants to go and the organizer is late on setting up
In the situation I just gave you if you and your child leave while waiting your child may not understand why depending on the age and the child may be heart broken and it’ll just teach your child if you say something it may not happen so they will actually stop looking forward to stuff (happened to my husband) or even stop trusting you or even rsent you
In the case you gave us it’s very important you take doctor’s appointments very seriously your life isn’t just yours anymore and you now HAVE TO think of your child’s life
Remember patience is a virtue
You ever hear about that professional ( I think he may have been a lawyer ), who billed his doctor for his time spent waiting for his appointment? He said something like “My time is valuable too.”
I think if they make you wait excessively they should give you a discount on your bill or something for wasting your time.
@Bowens they may have needed to check on someone emergency that just went into labor, it’s not a regular doctor people can’t just say oh my appointment is at this time so I can’t go into labor until then baby’s come when they want
@Qwerty what if you went into labor and your midwife missed the entire thing because she had appointments and thought that scheduled appointments were more valuable than your emergency?
You have to think of it all the way around not just your side
thats a funny story haha. i think they guy has a point if it was a long time. I think its just part of our culture to expect a wait at the doctors cause theyre so important to society so we let it slide.
speaking of waiting, i had to wait like 20 minutes at the gas station today to check out because they were clocking out or something. They said it would take 5 but it ended up being way longer
That’s all well and good @Twialine . If they have to attend to something else then they have to attend to something else. But if they arent providing you with satisfactory service in a timely manner, I see nothing wrong with discounting your bill.
If you went to a steakhouse and waited for 3 hours and they burnt your steak and their excuse was, “well we were so busy we didnt have time to attend to your steak properly”, would you accept that as an excuse or would you want your money back?
@Bowens I feel it’s completely different and she never said they didn’t apologize or that thing didn’t go well after so we don’t know how the service was after the wait there are a lot of variables
If I was a obyn/midwife and someone decided to discuss the bill after a simple wait I’m not sure I’d want to drop everything I was doing to help them with the birth of their child, I might actually tell them to find a new obgyn/midwife that is a huge practice so you can have the service you want
A wait for a doctor that helps women deliver is normal especially if it’s not a huge practice, the women don’t want a stranger helping them with the birth or while at appointments so you can’t have it both ways
They already often make you show up an hour or more early before your appointment, if they are going to make you wait additional time, I think you should get a discounted rate.
But we are going to have to agree to disagree.
I think subpar service deserves subpar payment.
I understand - when you are late they refuse to see you, but when they late… I get it… I’m sorry
@Bowens I could go on but you’re right we’ll simply have to agree to disagree
Not to mention they demand you be here 10 mins early which i always am.
