Should i reduce my meds. I have had 3 psychotic episodes off them but am wondering if the 4 th time might be lucky for me ?
You have to consult with your psychiatrist
Don’t make important med changes based on a load of internet strangers advice. Please consult your medical team. They can best help you. They are qualified professionals who know you better than we do.
You mean to reduce or come off them ? Either way it’s a discussion you need to have with your doctor. I can say I was on 10 mg for many years and when I stopped I eventually had to go back on but this time on a higher dose than before.
Talk to your doctor. Do not take the advice from Net weirdos like me about med dosages. I can’t even match my socks some mornings.
Oh really? I wonder why?
The psychosis also came back worse than before. But everyone’s different and I would always listen to your pdocs advice.
I guess so im not sure if i should because im predisposed to high dopamine anyway. From my father so im not sure if anything natural will really help me
I’ve watched people here change their meds on their own and get so much worse. Don’t do it.
Tbh i jusg want to work full time and have a normal life like everyone else. I feel like this disorder will stick on to me like carrying a heavy medalion. I feel like i cannot have a normal life because of the disorder and medication.
Natural things can help, but they usually help more with the person taking meds as directed.
Normal is overrated.
Aim at being happy with what you have.
I agree with ZombieMombie. I also feel like stress can be a factor that makes us want to change things and hope for the best. Based on experience with the wishful thinking, I was on a lower dose of medication for a long time where I was confident I was on a small amount, but also barely hanging on at times and also less organized. I feel more capable with APs and that is something that has taken years to accept. As far as anti-depressants, because of my illness schizoaffective I am more sensitive to them. So I have to deal with the depression until a better medication comes along that wont derail me. So on one hand experimentation is good sometimes, but not for everyone and at the right times. Maybe talk to your pdoc about a medication adjustment or change instead or have a backup plan instead of just reducing one medication and then being without anything to stabilize you.
I have lost my full time job because of forgetfulness and low self esteem. I feel like i have mucked my life up. I just want to be able to cope with things normally like everyone else. I had to leave because full time was too much and i know that if someone was to complain about me id get very paranoid
I am forgetful, but have a great boss that works with me. I have lists and can put off th9ngs to the next day or week if needed.
Do you work full time? Or part time
You should never change your meds on your own hand especially if you are a youngster. So negotiate with your doctor about being lowered.
I’m an old grand par and most of my psychosis is burning out so I’m in a totally other situation.
I’m on two antipsychotics one of those an LAI(long acting injection)
I don’t like the concept about taking pills for mentally illness. So I’ll keep my LAI and two antiparkinson pills. And slowly I’ll tapper out of t he antipsychotic pills.
You.should never tapper on your own hand if you are a youngster or on 3 antipsychotics concurrently.
Unless you getting severe side effects - why bugger it all up by reducing your meds?
If it aint broke, dont fix it. x
I guess i just dont want to be fat or be numbed down. I have concentration issues and attention issues
I’m a fat b I t c h as my brother jokes.
Just got to work at loosing it if you don’t like it.
What med and dose are you on
