Has anyone who takes Caplyta experienced sexual side effects?
Thank you.
Has anyone who takes Caplyta experienced sexual side effects?
Thank you.
Iām curious about this too as my pdoc wants to put me on Caplyta. Itās just that I canāt afford the copays. I going to try for the Extra Help program again from Social Security.
I wasnāt on it long enough to notice. Sorry I canāt be of help.
Thanks @Happy_H.
not me, but risperdal gave me horrible sexual side effects and I finally got off it and onto a new medā¦made me suicidal when I had sexual side effectsā¦I hope you get it fixed.
I was never sexual, born that way. All my friends as a child talked and talked about sex incessantly and I learned how to play sports and likewise how to fantasize about sex.
I had a girlfriend for a year and a half after getting sza and we made love over and over and I developed a libido.
I used religion to suppress my desire after our last breakup. My Alter acts as though I committed the unforgivable sin as my desire never returned.
Was it real desire? How could it be if it was stuffed so completely for life? And didnāt I get caught trying to masterbate in the hospital but unable to become erect? Thatās documented proof medicine had something to do with it.
I donāt remember having but a tiny bit of desire in my teens. It was mostly about ego. So what Iām saying is as a 52 year old man who only had an manufactured desire I donāt care. My Alter cares. Is he right? Iām writing this stuff because he tortured me for thirty years about it I mean this voice was as mean as Satan and very realistic and prolific in his inventions of torture. But after thirty years mercy says thatās enough and now itās done. Iāve been punished. It wasnāt all my doing either. Iām free. Sex is gross. Lololol.
@anon54988740, my pdoc has suggested this med to me, but I can stay on Geodon. Iām just wondering if people experience sexual side effects on Caplyta.
Prolactin change negative, similar mechanism to abilify, not likely to have sexual side effects
I think APs in general give you sexual side effects. I have to really force my way into getting excited. I have had a strong sex drive my whole life though. So even invega cant keep me down. I never get random boners though. I always have to watch something and touch myself.
Sex is a natural part of being human just as is eating food. Christian religion came about for various reasons. Shifting away from religious beliefs based around the āearth motherā which had inherently sexual characteristics was also part of the shift toward agriculture and industrialism. In absence of a strong rule of law, a common belief system was used to unify people. Religious justice was then exercised by those in power as a means to control people in the absence of a formal and working law framework. This can be seen in the kings of England making various denomination splits based upon their preferred interpretation. Being the administrators of justice the priest had considerable power within the social-religious framework. The fact that the priest is a traditionally celibate man also speaks to the considerable power that they wielded within these communities. Those who functioned as the head of a social group could also not allow āthe priestā to have unfettered sexual access to the social group as their function was to form that for diviner and judge.
I personally am of the belief humans are instinctually monogamous if not in situations polygamous. I however donāt think that humans were by design innately monogamous throughout the entire course of their life. Binding life-long monogamy is in most cases has been a construction of religion and thereafter a societal institutionalism. That said traditionally marriage served a function and albeit a disquieting form of rights for women during times when basic necessities and resources were less abundant. This practical function of marriage has almost entirely become vestigial in the modern age.
Sexual sin as in all forms of sin is a form of co-regulation based upon a belief set. In a society that followed a predominantly Christian religion, it may have been important socially not to perform actions that would trespass upon others beliefs in a way that would bring about social retribution. When governing body of society is the rule of law and not religion. Carrying and placing the virtue of sin upon others is merely an archaic carry over only serving to obfuscate the nature in which society operates.
Sex is not simply a means of procreation it is a deeply human experience. Pleasure may be an evolutionary byproduct of procreation but to not allow yourself to experience pleasure is to not have embraced the human experience. Sex is as to food. It is not something done simply to exist, the enjoyment of it is intertwined in the existence of being human. Life is far too short not to express your humanity and the real sin is not having good sex while you still can.
Id say i have a normal, if not above normal sex drive on abilify which i enjoy.
Can anyone who is on Caplyta verify if they have sexual side effects on this medication?
Have you asked your pdoc? Have you Googled it? Those would be the things I would do if I wanted to know.
That sounds like what my ex girlfriend believes and my Alter. I screwed up by using religion to hurt that part of myself but it is done and canāt be reversed, my desire was disturbed so badly it refuses, after 30+ years to come back. Iām a sexual anorexic. I crave the āfoodā but the reality of eating is not something I can do, Iāve tried with other girls over years, I must be more gay than bi. When I ran away from home for two months as a teenager I had a rude awakening to my true sexuality which I cannot accept except in fantasy. To put it simply, I donāt want to cuddle with a man, I grew up thinking straight thoughts and I canāt make a transition.
My pdoc suggested it. Yes, Iāve read reviews on it. Nothing mentions sexual side effects. Itād be nice to hear from someone who is on it though.
Itās unfortunate if thatās how you feel that you cannot express yourself in that way. But I also respect that it can be a difficult space to navigate
Thereās not a big risk of developing sexual side effects with Caplyta.
Thereās more of a risk with drugs like Risperdal.
I can attest to this
@Wave have you tried Caplyta? That would be helpful.
One of the reviews said the womanās period disappeared. This would have to be due to high prolactin levels which cause sexual side effects. Although no review specifically said there were sexual side effects.
No Iām sorry @HollyHobbie ive never tried it but only gathered stuff from what Iāve read a bout Caplyta
Ok thanks @Wave.
