I’ve recently started taking Seroquel, and it actually works for me! First antipsychotic that’s ever done anything good for me haha. But I’ve been having trouble with the drowsiness it causes - I sleep at least 12 hours a day and am still tired when I’m awake. Does anyone have any experience with this and if so, does it get better? I’m hopeful about this one because it’s the only one that’s actually worked, but I’m worried about going back to college if this drowsiness continues.
I was on Olanzapine and had the exact same problem.
I’ve heard Seroquel and Olanzapine are probably the two “worse” medications for this problem. A lot of people complain about sleeping a lot on them, especially at higher doses.
I’m sorry, but, I didn’t experience drowsiness on Seroquel.
Yes, I found this very sedating. It seemed to make my anhedonia worse and I didn’t respond to it as well as hoped for positives. Also gave me a super dry mouth, which was better than the lakes I drooled on Abilify.
I’m on seroquel.
For me, the drowsiness never went away but I hear some people develop a tolerance
Are you on the XR or the regular one?
I slept 12 hours a day on the XR and it didn’t seem to get any better. On the regular one I sleep 9 hours and it did get better the first months (down from 10 or so).
I was the opposite of @anon9798425; I slept a normal amount on the XR version and on the IR formulation I slept more. Nothing like conflicting information between people to clear things up! Meds are so weird.
I’m on the regular one. I’m thinking about switching to the XR one though, to see if it’s any different for me.
If XR works well for you, you are lucky. The morning dose of Seroquel is really the worst part of being on that med. You should try it.
Also, if you only take Seroquel at night, that could explain your sleepiness.
Been on Seroquol for years. I actually rely on the drowsiness to put me to sleep at night, but yeah i sleep for 12 hours too. For some reason its giving me a headache in the mornings now.
Ive got 2 x 25mg during the day for psychotic anxiety too - but i dont always take that.
