I’ve found that my parents had more of my old stuff stored than I thought they did. I thought I sold most of my old possessions when I was psychotic. I’ve found a treasure trove of old toys and other stuff in my parents basement, though. So I’ve been spending the last few days trying to sell stuff off. I don’t use most of it anymore so it’s mostly just taking up space in my view. Give me a computer and a few guitars and accessories and I’m pretty much good. I don’t need all this stuff sitting around collecting dust.
Yeah I buy and sell hobby stuff on ebay. It’s good for selling but our market over here is basically high retail for buying. Not many special deals anymore unless your buying el cheapo stuff. I tend to use Amazon increasingly more but for selling it is good.
Great way to declutter and get some cash in the process .
Funny you mention selling some of your stuff— I’m currently clearing out some of my stuff as well. I was thinking of going the consignment store or Poshmark route since most of it is like clothes, jewelry, and accessories that I don’t use anymore.
I’m divvying everything up between things that could be sold and things that could be donated— I heard that thrift stores nowadays are less about serving folks in need, since thrifting is cool now . So I’m gonna donate all my old work blazers, some nice clothing, and some good shoes to a women’s shelter instead (cut out the middleman ).
Anyways, it’s kinda fun going through old stuff sometimes! Good luck with the EBay .
I sold basically all of my valuable collectible video game stuff when we were moving to California. Got 5 grand from it total. This was back when Ebay took 10% instead of 12.5% like today. I sold stuff like Destiny 1 wrapped Collector’s Edition and my Earthbound cartridge/guide.
It was a great way to improve my standing on ebay, as I got a positive review for every item I sold.
Good on you ma’am! I need to donate some of my shoes, but I think I’m going to give them to the city mission because I know my neighborhood thrift shop would probably mark them up.
(A lot of the shoes are in really good shape because I alternate shoes a lot).
Everybody deserves to feel good about themselves, so if you do happen to donate some shoes you don’t really wear all that much anymore, I’m sure it’ll lift someone’s spirits out there .
I have some nice blazers and stuff I used to wear for work at the bank— like Calvin Klein and Tahari-type stuff. Gonna try and find either a charity for helping women land jobs, or a women’s shelter and give those blazers to them.
… No sense in me hanging on to them for my bi-weekly trips to the grocery store and grabbing ciggies at the gas station .
I think that’s really cool how you want to give them to some women who are really in need.
A lot of thrift and consignment shops totally mark stuff up these days. Kind of a bummer.
I really need to get rid of some of my shoes. I’m going to talk to my mom because her neighbors are from Guatemala and they have friends who might wear my size and need some new kicks.
I just don’t know if I can part from my white Stan Smith’s though.
That’s pretty awesome and quite nice of you to think of them .
Haha I don’t blame you one bit! Stan Smith’s are a classico .
Also, I’m sorry if I came across as tone deaf in the post about people’s feet feeling happy and stylish. People in rough predicaments and living hand to mouth probably have different, more pressing priorities other than style. I felt like that comment came across as borderline insensitive, and that wasn’t my intention— I just meant it in a nice way because you do have a pretty stylish shoe collection is all. Sorry about that .
