Self-Shame/Guilt

I feel I’m a disgrace to mankind. And I’m a terrible person with terrible intentions. And I can’t get over this overwhelming amount of guilt on my back…That I’ve done something wrong, not sure exactly what, maybe a lot of things but I feel I’ve done stuff wrong. Like how come I sometimes root for bad things in the news to happen. Eminem said he did too, but he doesn’t consider himself a bad person, or just doesn’t care. I feel guilty about it though. But I’m trying to change to root for the world to be good. Paris was sad but I wasn’t that sad. Isis is bad but I wouldn’t feel that bad next time they attack. Am I ■■■■■■?

Maybe you really are a lousy person. Maybe you are a really nice guy. I couldn’t tell for sure. I don’t get the impression that you are a bad guy. We are all a mixture of both. I think I’m a nice guy because I don’t hurt women and children. I just go about my business. I have my moods where I wish some bad things on people. I live in a big city now. I find it hard to be compassionite towards the punks and people who delibrately intimidate me. Hey folks out there. Don’t blame your problems on me. Don’t take your anger out on me. I didn’t raise you and I’m not responsible for you.
See? I get negative. Negativity is part of the human condition. Ask our resident pessimist @pansdisease. He’s not far off on his negative opinion about life and people. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with not caring about something half-way around the world. There’s so much bad stuff happening in the world and you can’t care about everything and no one expects you too.

Relax. Don’t hurt anyone. Go sip some hot chocolate and pet a dog. There’s ways to make up for bad behavior and bad thoughts . Go feed a homeless lady some cherries and rejoice in the coming new year. 77nick77 has spoken. Go forward and prosper.

Try to do something that you like,try to enjoy it.After doing things that keeps you busy you probably won’t have time to think why are you a bad person

If you had to feel bad/sad for all the things that go on in this world you would implode. Don’t put the world on your shoulders. Just do your best in the place you live.

Guilt is a powerful emotion. It is a good emotion. It makes people better humans. I’m glad you feel guilt, it shows there’s hope.

Of course guilt doesn’t help much if you don’t know why you’re feeling it.

I don’t watch the news in general. I do get the news headlines on my phone. But watching TV news is masochistic in my opinion.

I often feel this way same and guilt are awful. Could just be depression, makes me not care about horrific events too.

Or… “watching TV news without a ‘critical thinking fire suit’ is masochistic.”

I can’t watch hyperstimulating CNN anymore, much less proto-commie MSNBC or red-state-only Faux without one of those. (BBC America for me, and even that…)

I would be worried about you if you joined ISIS, or if you became an arms merchant, and sold them weapons. I don’t think it will hurt the world for you not to agonize over all the things that go wrong in it. Just try not to hurt anyone if you can help it.

It is truly amazing to me how much the experiential world can change with perspective and mood. I mean, tasks can appear as impossible, out of reach, and beyond our limits. Events can be seen as signs of weakness, instances of coming short in any way, as resulting from a deficit. Yet, we only need to remember, the world can appear so much different in another mood. We can also perceive it in terms of our achievements, as fun challenges, as a source of joy. And what has really changed here?

Shame is very similar to command hallucination. It’s that voice/thought in your head, your voice unlike command H., that beats you down. “Your not good enough, your stupid,” etc… etc…

As someone who once had command hallucinations I have to stop and think about whether or not the thought was a voice coming from outside of me or internal. Its very unnerving to think that the voices could be back.

Especially lately when my thoughts are all jumbled. I’m going through a med change, completely off the zoloft and only on a small amount of lamictal. Very depressed, crying a lot. Its similar to when I was hospitalized last time except I’m not hearing things telling me awful things and to hurt myself. Sometimes SU/SI but not quite, no plan.
