Second episode of psychosis

I was on 1 mg of risperidone after the first episode of psychosis since 2018, and last month I suffered the second episode of psychosis. I didn’t sleep for 3/4 days and my family contacted the doctor and I’ve had my risperidone dose upped to 3 mg and I started taking 10 mg of olanzapine.

Now I’m feeling a lot better no delusions. I’m just a bit worried about fat gain. I just gained 3 kg in 3 weeks. I’m sleeping 10 hours a day. I’m going to talk to my Doctor at the end of this month.

I’m on a big dose (3mg risperidone + 10mg of olanzapine)?

Is this a confirmation of schizophrenia!?

Hi @rcjj, nice to see you around again.

Sucks about the second psychosis, but I hope you’re doing much better and feeling alright these days :+1:.

Your doctor can confirm for you. Sorry to hear you had another episode

Ugh. That sucks. I’m glad you feel better. Ask your dr about dosages and diagnoses. They should be willing to discuss that with you.

I have an appointment next week and I hope that after that I start taking a lower dose.

I hope you feel better soon.

Olanzapine should not be a first line treatment

on 20mg over 2 years I put on 35kg’s and have never got back to pre weight

There are plenty of options.

I don’t know why they think it appropriate to prescribe that med

Might be worth checking with the doctor, as they have released one that has less weight gain is my understanding of it

It took 10 years before I got the diagnosis of schizophrenia! Some doctors diagnose easily, others wait a very long time.

I hope the meds help and you can start your recovery process.
Good luck!
