Third Episode Psychosis

Hello all,

I came off of 5mg Olanzapine during August 23 and managed until the beginning of December 23.

Then had a massive relapse from December 7 until late March 24. Was then sectioned and starting getting better in hospital after being put back on Olanzapine at 15mg.

I’m now on 12.5mg olanzapine whereas I was on 5mg before I came off because I felt I’d recovered.

The third episode was extremely stressful and was full of hallucinations and delusions.

Feels like it’s been a long road to recovery.

Hopefully I’ll manage to get back down to 5mg Olanzapine, but don’t know if that’s likely now.

Also thinking of trying Vraylar ?

Just thought I’d update as haven’t posted in a long time.

Thanks

Luke

Sorry to hear of your troubles

Glad to see you post though

We can try and help where we can

I was on 20mg of Olanzapine a long time

In my view there are better options but don’t get fixated on a particular med because it might not be the right one for you

Bit of experimenting with different ones may be required

I’m on 20mg olanzapine and 1.5mg vraylar.

5mg is too low as a therapeutic dose.

As far as I know, 10mg is the lowest therapeutic dose for olanzapine for schizophrenia.

I managed just over 2 years on 5mg Olanzapine before coming off and didn’t have any side affects. Feeling slightly sedated and have less libido now.

Will most likely take time to recover.

Definitely on antipsychotics for the long term now!

Vraylar doesn’t pack the punch of Olanzapine near as I can tell. If you’re on a good dose of the first, the second may not carry the load for you.

Sorry to hear of the relapse and glad you are doing better now.

I was on Vraylar for several years. It helped with my depression and mood swings. It helped with psychosis, but it takes a long time to work – at least for me.

I decided to go on Zyprexa because I got tired of the inner restlessness, insomnia, and delusions I had on Vraylar.
