Schizophrenic neighbour nearly killed her son

Last night, she was in crisis I could hear her yell. Then half an hour later ambulance and police arrived, she attacked her son and he’s in critical care. He was taken away in ambulance and she kept yelling God this and that, as he was taken away from the balcony. Everyone just left and I was worried for her, then next morning (like minutes ago) I heard her yelling and took a look out of my window.

Two paramedics and two police officers take her away, likely for treatment or maybe even prison which I sincerely hope not. For months I was worried for her and wanted to help but due to my social anxieties and social problems from autism I could not even dare to knock on her door. Truly unfortunate it got to this I feel sorry for everyone involved, I can relate to her struggles.

Next time I notice her in crisis or signs, I am phoning ambulance for a check. Also will mention to get her details then ask her psychiatrist to get her on depot, feels like best option for her. But yeah I don’t get to decide for others, I can just advise of course.

Sorry if I sounds like a robot/unempathetic detailing his helplessness, just autistic struggles

Do you know her? Why is she having an episode? Doesn’t she take her meds?

Unfortunately no, we don’t interact much since this is the U.K especially Birmingham. The city is pretty notorious like London for people keeping to themself just from what I noticed. She has always been yelling for months but it just clicked with me recently that she’s schizophrenic, I thought she was clashing or discipling her child all this time. Its a few weeks ago I noticed she’s 100% schizophrenic she kept banging on my wall waking me up from sleep and sometimes I heard her talking to her voices screaming “how dare you!” She definitely does not take meds I can feel it, UK mental health is neglectful only do they help when things are too late/taken a much worse turn.

The poor kid will always remember his mother attacking him😢 I also hope they take the son to his father, I remember seeing him at the house but he left her and it got worse.

Luckily I never once became violent during an episode.

I hope these cases are infrequent, otherwise it won’t help toward reducing the stigma.

How old is her son? If he’s critical he could have died. That’s so awful! That could be the reason she was later taken away. I really hope not though

He’s literally a child, like no older than 12

That’s awful! I really hope he’s as ok as is possible under the circumstances

Goodness, that sounds terrible. I hope everything improve

I hope she is never allowed near him again. He’ll be better for it.

This is awful this happened to a young child, but I don’t think it is because of schizophrenia. I think it’s her personality. My schizophrenic mother cared more about me than my successful, conventional father did. She could be impulsive when she was angry, but she cared more about her kids than their fathers did. My brother and I had to live with our dad one year, because she needed an operation. I felt like I joined the army, mostly because of his wife’s personality, who looked down on the mentally ill.

You are good and careing person @Brim

Marilyn Monroe’s mother had schizophrenia and Marilyn was diagnosed with it in 1962. She lived most of her childhood in foster care and said the happiest time of her childhood was when she was able to live with her mother. I think she was disturbed because she wasn’t able to live with her mother, most of the time. She had a stutter as a teenager. I don’t think she would have committed suicide if she’d been able to grow up with her mother and not had to live in some of the uncaring foster homes she was in.
