Schizophrenic musicians

I don’t know but sometimes I feel like I am very clumsy as a musician because of my sz. It’s a lot like bad handwriting to me and my mind seems to lose track very easily when I try to play something formal on piano or sing a song. I sometimes feel like I am most comfortable improvising and seeing what weird stuff comes out.

This was a song I wrote…my producer buddy is singing. He blew a lot of the phrasing…messed up some of my words…and over-sang the piece.

It is what it is. I’d like to revisit this number some day with a different vocalist.

It’s called “You Say”…

I wrote this 30 second “cue” as they call it in the Industry. I just pitched it to a Jewelry Company and got no response back. I thought it would make a great soundtrack for a marriage proposal.

Some of you have heard it before. If you haven’t, here it is…

Iunno apparently Einstein was known to be sort of disorganised. When you have a lot going on in your life it cab get that way. You’re not clumsy, maybe you just have a lot on your mind, or a lot of ideas!

I play music as well. I’m not sure schizophrenia has anything to do with my music playing. I wouldn’t know the difference anyway. Keep on playing music if that’s what you enjoy doing!

Thanks PatrickT! Sounds cool.

I had forgotten about picosong.
Here is a simple Silent Night I plucked out on my autoharp app I made:

I think in my case what I need to do is practice with a metronome more often. It’s really easy for me to lose the beat.

Syd Barrett from early Pink Floyd developed schizophrenia. Sadly stopped most music. Mick Fleetwood drummer from Fleetwood Mac had some issues. I saw it reported that he had sz but unsure of that one. Famous session drummer Jim Gordon had sz and unfortunately is in jail after killing his mother who’se voice he heard. I’m sure there’s others out there!

Jaco (see above) was diagnosed with bipolar at Bellevue, I think. He was also addicted to the combo of alcohol and cocaine. His personality was so unstable that he “alienated” all of his musical friends but a few. He died at the age of 36 as the result of a beating by a bouncer in Florida. No, I suppose he didn’t have SZ, but it’s too late to determine that now… He’s the bass on this Joni Mitchell song:

The vocalist(s) on this song are simply amazing. I wouldn’t change them if I were you. I can’t tell if there is one vocalist or two. But they are both the bomb. The only thing I don’t like about this song is the ending. It fades out and I don’t like that kind of ending. You should end with a repeat of the beginning four bars of the song. That’s how endings usually go. I am a very experienced composer.
