What are some of the best jobs for a schizophrenic?
Anything nonstressful so it doesn’t activate your symptoms
True, but like what are some examples?
Janitor is all I can think of off the top of my head, but really anything simple is fair game
Warehouse jobs can be hard physically but they are pretty repetitive and usually pay pretty well. Anywhere in the logistics chain is a good place to start. Assembling, driving forklifts and other machinery. Retail is ok but usually pays pretty average.
I would like to be a therapist. I think I would find the environment therapeutic and being able to help others I think would also be therapeutic for me. Also it’s not physically strenuous. What does everyone think of that?
Anything that is physically extrenuous limits me and also activates my symptoms.
Whatever you want that wouldn’t be too stressful, I want to be a lawyer one day but thats probably not gonna happen, due to the stress. But then again who am I to tell you what to do
The lawyers around here seem very happy😀
Uh, good luck with that. The nature of work is that it’s unpleasant. That’s why you get paid to do it.
The sky is the limit. It depends upon how much stress you can handle and how stable you are on your meds.
I have worked about 9 jobs while schizophrenic but wasn’t very successful the first several years. I worked one job for a year and a half and only lasted six weeks at another. So it depends. The best you can do is try.
Do you have the qualifications to be a therapist or do you need to go back to school?
Yeah, but there’s different levels of stress to each job
I’ll have to go back to school which sounds very exciting to me
I’ve discovered that it usually has more to do with your manager than the job role. A bad manager can make life utter hell in a rainbow and unicorn factory.
I have completed an associates degree while schizophrenic and stable. It’s doable.
I guess I wouldn’t know a whole lot about jobs since I’ve never had one, but just hearing about different jobs at high school there seems to be varying degrees of stress. And yeah I’m sure managers contributes to the stress
Not too many people. Doesn’t require a lot of talking.
Data entry. Physical labour. Shelf stocking.
A pizza delivery driver. You just drive around and listen to music. But your car wears out. It’s easy
How about medical coding?
I did some warehouse and inventory stocking work. If my elbows were in good shape, and my head didn’t hurt so much, and all I had was my schizophrenia symptoms, I’d probably do that again, it was fairly simple and not very mentally taxing.
