I noticed someone on here mention they had a schizophrenia diagnosis without having delusions or hallucinations. Surely they must have something else, it doesn’t make much sense???
Delusions and hallucinations are not required for a diagnosis of schizophrenia.
Here, look at this site: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/schizophrenia/basics/tests-diagnosis/con-20021077
Don’t know if it’s different in DSM 5.
I’m 70 years old and I still take antipsychotics. My hallucinations and delusions gradually disappeared over a period of about 20 years. However if I reduce my medications I start to have delusions of reference and paranoia, so I think I’m still schizophrenic.
And my negative symptoms largely left when I started taking Wellbutrin. The only symptom I have left is a tendency to withdraw from socializing.
