Does anybody else struggle with keeping things tidy?
Eg, keeping stuff inside and using a wardrobe or a chest of drawers?
Because ever since I developed psychotic illness, I find it strugglesome mentally to visualise the effort to put in and take out things in an organised manner.
The process seems heavy when I think of it. There’s no other way to put it.
I want to know if it’ll improve, the way my negative symptoms have.
I’m fed up being disorganised! i think the lack of orderly behaviour impacts how I perceive things and is affecting me mentally which affects me academically too. Farfetched yes, but it’s possible imo.
I used to be messy. Now I’m neat. I’m not a neat freak but I like to have everything where it belongs and I like things to be fairly clean. “A place for everything and everything has a place.” My apartment is easy to keep clean, on a daily basis it doesn’t get that dirty but periodically I used to take on projects like scrubbing the kitchen floor on my hands and knees once every three or four months. Not too difficult actually. I scrub the walls a little and have cleaned the cupboards. But I haven’t done any “project” in ar least 8 months and the apartment still looks clean.
My executive functioning ability especially re organising and planning is far from good . Both ASD & schizophrenia can have a negative effect on EF. Multi-step tasks are difficult.
