Schizophrenia is not like diabetes

This is misleading imo. It does have objective data - more data and further back than the data of diabetes

A good clinician understands it’s not as subjective as first appears

Could you explore it a bit further that its not subjective or schizophrenia is objective ?

Memory is affected - this is measured and not subjective

Neuroimaging studies the neurotransmitters - this is not subjective

Before and after illness reports - are universally similar in trend despite different individuals experiencing it - that’s not subjective - that’s a statistical trend

DSM - 5 is built of specialised statistics data; data which goes back hundreds of years in the case of schizophrenia

I want to add; many people think it is subjective and “in your head” this is why people have grouped it with emotional problems. In Britain this issue is becoming very problematic and is one of the controversial ways the authority rob the vulnerable of meeting criteria for disability benefits

We are a highly stigmatised group of people and this belief that it is imaginary is core to this.

This is really dumb and i have no idea where to start so ill throw some random thoughts at you.

Psychiatric disorders ARE quantifiable. They have scales and tests that give you a number at the end and they have been extensively used and studied.

No biological test YET but we are finding genetics linked to schizophrenia, and probably more that im ignorant of right now.

The “physical test” could simply be observation, but they are also developing nueroimaging and finding variations in brain parts vs healthy brains

The “objective data” is decades of research, studies, etc. You listen to two or three dchizophrenics ramble to you and youll see the objective wackiness of that.

Im tired but there was more lol

Oh! Importantly, diagnosis for physical illnesses ALSO varies from person to person. The first example that comes to mind is MS.

I mean theres a lot more tests than just memory tests?

It’s no secret that schizophrenia is a mental illness

Then why does medicine suppress the positive symptoms like hallucinations?

AI will only tell you the story available to it; not the up to date research available behind paywalls

Yes, of course in a medical straighjacket you don’t have any symptoms. You can’t function at all. But ok, when you go asking for help…go for it.

I’m sorry, but you’re being misled by what seems to be a rather misinformed AI. There is a lot of credible data out there in relation to this being a real medical condition with a plausible connection to the body human including the brain and nervous system

Honestly, this is also a somewhat confused argument. Many mental phenomena (from illness or otherwise) can be modulated by intervening in the body/brain through medication or otherwise. This does not make mental phenomena physical phenomena. Almost no one who is serious in studying the mind/brain think the two are disconnected.

I don’t argue anymore. I stated my truth.

My truth is that bacon wrapped doughnuts are good for the body and soul. Sadly, this is not a real truth. Five bucks says I can get an AI to go along with it, though.

Your original graphic overlooks:

  • Reduced gray matter volume: particularly in regions like the frontal and temporal lobes.
  • Enlarged ventricles: the fluid-filled spaces in the brain.
  • Abnormalities in white matter integrity: which affects brain connectivity.
  • Altered brain activity and connectivity: shown in functional imaging studies (fMRI).

These are all quantifiable.

And being called dumb is degrading, just of a disagreement.

If you publish something that is factually incorrect, you should expect to get called on it.

Now if you’ll excuse me I need to get back to my mission of convincing the world of the merits of bacon wrapped pastries.
