What’s the most surefire way(s) to know if you have schizophrenia? I’ve been diagnosed and asked family.

There is no test. A doctor diagnoses you based off of your symptoms. You are your own historian in that endeavor.

There’s no reliable test. The best way to know is to ask a doctor, and tell them all your symptoms. Generally, doctors are very hesitant to diagnose people with schizophrenia. If you’ve been diagnosed, you probably have it.

I had an MRI and a psych evaluation. That’s all I know.

Diagnosis is really all you’ve got. And doctors/psychs are usually VERY hesitant to diagnose it. They’ll usually spring for any other possible diagnosis first, which is why they often request brain scans and such to rule out things like tumors.

But there are silly tests. like videos on youtube that ask riddles or show images or illusions and if you answer a specific way I guess you’re either schizophrenic or a genius. I think its nonsensical but if it makes a difference i tested sz on them…coincidentally?

Yes I believe that was why I had the MRI…because I doubt you can tell if someone is sz from their brian…unless maybe activity? I also had a test to see if my kidney cyst (which i’ve since had removed) was leaking and poisoning me. They take this dx pretty seriously.

I had an MRI to rule out tumors, too. Everyone should say they had one. If not, you should really request one.

I’ve done some of the silly online tests and sometimes they say I don’t have schizophrenia. Then I’m all like “Tree clown, do you see this?! We’re cured!”
Tree clown never finds it as amusing as I do but he doesn’t seem to find anything amusing. He’s not much of a clown.

Same they never even brought it up… I told them about the black outs… and about being knocked out by bumping me head on a couple things.
