I’m wondering I’ve heard you can have both schizophrenia and depression and NOT have schizoaffective disorder

Maybe the difference is schizoaffective disorder is supposed to be a lifelong permanent disorder. Whereas schiz with depression might mean that the depression part is temporary and can be freed from through good living? Just a thought.

A psychiatrist once told me that schizophrenia overrules depression because depression is an integral part of being a schizophrenic.
