Schizophrenia after dark

what’s everyone doing while they’re having trouble sleeping??

Usually my meds knock me out right away

Reading is always my favorite but riding bicycle around the neighborhood is a great mind clearing excercise.

I usually always sleep well, but if I cannot then I read or watch TV. If I read it makes my eyes tired.

On the occasions my meds don’t knock me out and I pull an all nighter I mostly read or journal, but the next day after not sleeping all night…oh my, the anxiety nearly kills me. And that’s when I hear the voices the loudest. Not even my clonazepam helps the anxiety, but a few beers does. Not that I’m trying to self-medicate, but if I’m in a state of anxiety that medication can’t even touch a beer will do the trick.

Love the thread title. Sort of reminds me of Hugh Hefner’s (truly awful) TV show in the '50s and '60s, “Playboy’s Penthouse.” Only this is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more interesting.

I don’t have trouble sleeping. To the contrary, my brain feels magnetically ready to sleep or relax at any given moment. Super low energy & confusion in waking states, but super high energy & clarity in sleep states. Yeah, I don’t get it.

Do you have narcolepsy?

I’ll drink coffee, sometimes it will put me to sleep. Another thing I will do is have a beer.

talk to myself, drink, smoke, jerk off, i dunno

Nope. Not that severe. Just docile.

Read, watch something

Unless I am really tired it usually takes me at least two hours to fall asleep, sometimes more. When I was little this was tough for me, but as I got older I got used to it. It is almost gratifying to me to lay in bed for a couple of hours and let my mind range from issue to issue, from topic to topic. Sometimes I wonder if I am going anywhere with all this free thinking. Sometimes I think I am.

that sounds good to do but I find myself hearing the houses talk though me telling me to do things and to hate myself

naps, caffeine, sugar, showers, good luck on doing what you can  used to feel that way alot

read anything really interesting lately? its something i used to enjoy but haven’t been doing.

i hear having a night time routine, where you take an hour or so every night for exercise, tea, journaling, reading, tv, teeth, and that is the way to go, but i have yet to master it. also going to bed at a certain time to get your body tired works. of course i tend to fall asleep depending on what i’m doing, and then sometimes wake up at night on and off. luckily i feel rested most nights. thanks :relieved:

Isn’t that different? how stimulants can put some psychotics to sleep? Years ago when I used to do hard drugs I would do 2 railroads of coke and lay down and go to sleep, but if you give me one of those 7 eleven HUGE cups of 20/80 rum and dr. Pepper I could be up for days.
