Guys I really need some help. For my booklet I have 2 stories to share, mine and from @disciple
I could really use 4 more to flesh out the book. The entire thing isn’t stories, just one section. I need stories of before diagnosis, getting diagnosed, treatment, living with schizoaffective daily.
I won’t ask for names so you would be anonymous. A portion of proceeds will go to NAMI or another mental illness advocate/research organization.
Please help! If you don’t want to share a story, how about tips for living with the disorder. Anything you feel is helpful. I will consider all tips and suggestions.
That’s ok. I understand how hard it can be. I wrote for a living and supported a family of 7 for over 10 years. Then I had a major psychotic break and lost the ability to write for a while. This is my first foray back into writing seriously in over 2 years.
I want to offer information and tips for people living with the disorder or their families.
Aw shucks. I don’t know about noble. Kind of self serving. Information helps lead to acceptance. Donations might help fund research or treatments. That helps me in a roundabout way.
The blog isn’t finished but the content is relevant. I think it’d be perfect for your project. And I grant you permission to copy anything on the site. Here’s a sample to see if it suits your booklet: Blog post
There’s lots of good info, broken down into subcategories: acceptance/ presence, self awareness, core skills, career journey, movement/ growth, emergency plan. Let me know if I may be of any assistance
Do you have a PO Box or something, like something that’s not your actual address? I’d be happy to send you my journals from when I was going psychotic. I can only find 2, but they still tell a part of my story.
@anon4362788, I’m interested in writing for a living. How do you break into the business? What did you write about when you were writing? Who did you write for? Did you have an agent? How did you get an agent? I’d love to know how to break into the business. I’d appreciate it greatly if you could help me. I’d be forever grateful. You can PM me if you want.
