I am scared of clozapine because it blocks muscarinic receptors causing anticholinergic effects.
Do you think I should be really scared of clozapine because it causes anticholinergic effects yes or no?
Very important question : Does its anticholinergic effects disturbs us with studying?
I was scared of clozapine too. One pdoc wanted to put me on it but I refused it. I got a new pdoc and he put me on Lurasidone and that has worked out really well.
Based on what I have read, and this is just my personal opinion, I would have to be really desperate to go on Clozapine. In my mind there are a lot of other antipsychotics you can try before that one and I would rather give those a try. But some people do really well on clozapine.
Anyone wet the bed on clozapine I think I heard that is a side effect? Does anyone sleep less than 12 hours a night on clozapine? I start clozapine next week.
I’ve been on Clozapine for at least 2 years now. It has done wonders for me. The only bad effect i get from it is drooling when i’m asleep. Other than that, i’ve had no problems. I know it seems like a scary drug, but it is very effective if it is something you can take.
I was on clozaril when it. first came out
Nothing to be scared about it. It’s just another drug.
Side effects for me - drooling ay night and being sedated - hard to get up early.
What stands out to me is that I could tolerate sitting with a group of people and felt relaxed enough to stay
Also. did a whole bunch of knitting and crocheting using all of my stash of yarn.
4 blankets and all of the sweaters I had wanted to knit. Just throw that in -
I am on clozapine for about ten years, it has worked so well for me, no other medication worked for me, side effects can be tough though, they include drooling at night, weight gain, sedation ect, the pros are less paranoia, more motivation, less depression, less anxiety ect
Yes Clozapine has some anticoiinergic properties but maybe you go free from getting them who knows. The reason why you are advised to use Clozapine is that most of those meds you took in the past didn’t help enough. Go for Clozapine don’t worry it could be your happy ending. And the beginning of a bright future.
All medication has side effects. Yes, this is scary, but so are the things that other APs can do. I wish clozapine had worked for me (WBC dropped). Is this really worse? However, it’s my understanding that clozapine is a “last resort” medication. Are you at that point?
