Who here takes clozapine and do you have any side effects thanks x

I take 500mg a day. Lots of drooling. It is a great med, but blood tests get old.

Thanks for replying i havent started it yet so want to see what effects there are do you take an antidepressant with it too

I take it with Buspar and Klonopin.

I’m on clozapine and I have had some drooling at night plus drowsiness and dizziness that comes a couple of hours after taking it. I will say that it’s been the best med for me. I know longer have severe paranoid thoughts or voice’s.

I’m on 400mg.
Only side effect I notice is extreme drowsiness

I take 800 mgs — still delusional, but at least I can deal with it on meds

I’m on 175mg clozapine and have clozapine induced OCD. I have to take benzo along with it. Right now we are trying another antipsychotic and will slowly reduce clozapine dose.

When I took clozapine in 2004 it gave me severe side effects like drooling (I had to wrap a towel around my pillow) and severe drowsiness. I slept from 9pm till 10am and sometimes till 2pm. Once in hospital I didn’t go to toilet before bed and woke up with a wet bed.
I didn’t like it and asked to be switched to another med. To risperidone which within a few months caused me to go slowly into remission

I am on clozapine for the past ten years, It has worked very well for me! The side effects are hard to cope with though! Those include sedation, weight gain , drooling, also the blood word is a bit of a hassle, overall the benefits outway the negatives!
