How safe is it to be driving during eclipse without solar glasses?
I think your ok aslong as you dont look at the sun… im unsure if you will need to turn your lights on or not though…
I think they are worried about distracted drives so drive defensively.
You should never look directly at the sun with your bare eyes regardless of whether there’s an eclipse or not. Most people would have no reason to want to look directly at the sun, except during an eclipse, which is why solar glasses are made available when there’s an eclipse.
Bear in mind that during sunny days (when there is no eclipse) you can drive or walk outside without any eye protection. However, it would not be safe to stare directly at the sun.
If you poke a pin through one sheet of paper and then let the sun shine through the hole sheet onto another piece of paper you can watch as the pin prick of light onto the other sheet is eclipsed…safest way to watch it.
Thanks - I just want to be safe while driving to an appointment.
